Nagakusa Tenjin Shrine, the God of Academics

I visited Nagakusa Tenjin Shrine in Obu City, Aichi Prefecture. Nagakusa Tenjin Shrine is said to have started when the local lord welcomed Sugawara no Michizane as his guardian deity during the Muromachi period. The shrine is famous for its Doburoku Festival and the god of learning. The Doburoku Festival has a history of over 500 years, and on the day of the festival, you can drink alcohol for free, making it a great festival for alcohol lovers. The Doburoku Festival at Nagakusa Tenjin Shrine is a tangible folk cultural property designated by Obu City. At Nagakusa Tenjin Shrine, stone statues of cows are enshrined on both sides of the stone steps leading to the main shrine, welcoming you. There is also a large camphor tree and an abandoned calligraphy storehouse in the precincts, which are also not to be missed.
