Ximatai: The antiquity of Xuzhou's history is perhaps best illustrated by this ancient site

In 206 BC, after Xiang Yu destroyed the Qin dynasty, he proclaimed himself the Hegemon-King of Western Chu and established his capital at Pengcheng. He built a platform on the southern mountain south of the city to watch horse plays, practice martial arts, and review troops, hence the name Ximatai. Ximatai is located at the top of Nanshan (Hubu Mountain), and since the Sui and Tang dynasties, it has been known as 'the most scenic spot in the ancient city of Xuzhou'. Entering the mountain gate, you are greeted by red walls and green tiles, carved eaves and painted galleries, with numerous historical relics. The Howling Heaven Stone, stone pillars, and horse troughs are all worth seeing. In front of the east courtyard gate, there is a pair of stone lions squatting, and in the center of the courtyard stands a stone sculpture of Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu. The Panlong stone pillars in front of the Xiongfeng Hall are important historical relics. According to research, they are artistic treasures from before the Ming dynasty, with a history of over 400 years.
