Xuzhou Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Baolian Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Indeed, it is the most worthwhile treasure temple to visit in Xuzhou! (With guide
📍Xuzhou Pantao Mountain Buddhist Cultural Scenic Area (Baolian Temple)
🎫Admission is free, just scan the code at the entrance 🐎 no need to book in advance
⏰Opening hours: 6:00-17:00 (No entry after 16:00)🚕Bus/Taxi (It cost me just over ten yuan to take a taxi from Xuzhou East to Baolian Temple)
🐼Upon entering the park, there are panda trays on both sides, each person can help themselves to three incense sticks.
.
🍜Baolian Temple Vegetarian Noodle House: After entering the park, you can see long queues on both sides, just join the shorter line 🤣
Meals: Vegetarian noodles/Chinese pastries/Buns
Vegetarian noodles 15r💰About twenty minutes wait, tastier than I expected, with toppings like mushrooms, wood ear fungus, greens, dried tofu, and carrots🥕
Vegetarian bun 3r💰Stuffing with greens and mushrooms
Three-ding bun 4r💰Pleurotus eryngii, dried tofu, and bamboo shoots
Both are very delicious!! Quite large and very filling!
Many people bought pastries, which are delicate and cute, but I was too full to try them so I don't know how they taste.
.
🪷Tongtian Pavilion: The last spot inside the temple, great for taking photos!! Inside the hall, you can draw lots and copy scriptures (10r💰)
Here is the most comprehensive guide to Bao Lian Temple in Xuzhou
🚌Transportation:
You can choose to take a taxi or ride a shared electric scooter🛵 (two girls can ride together). The starting taxi fare is 8 yuan, with no price increase at night, which is cheap and convenient.
📷Visiting:
➡️Right at the main square of Bao Lian Temple is a large golden lotus🪷 building, which is very exquisite and aesthetically pleasing
➡️To the right of the lotus, the visitor center offers luggage storage🧳 and sells creative cultural ice cream for 15 yuan per stick (beautiful and delicious, 5⭐️ highly recommended)
➡️Upon entering the temple, you can freely take a tray of three incense sticks from the panda🐼 tray to use for worship
➡️Continuing forward, you will see the vegetarian noodle house. It is advised to buy pastries earlier rather than later, as they may sell out
➡️Inside the temple🉑️, you can visit and worship at will, divination is 10 yuan per fortune, and you can look up the interpretation on Baidu if you don't understand it. For blessings (there are two masters in the Guanyin temple who can pray and chant scriptures for you, a donation for incense is sufficient)
➡️If you want to get a stamp, go to the 'Guest Hall' behind Guanyin, where you can get a free🆓 stamp📒
➡️The place to eat noodles on the lower right side after getting a stamp is relatively less crowded than the noodle house at the entrance
⚠️Avoid:
1⃣️Wearing short skirts, shorts, flip-flops, or other clothing that exposes too much skin
2⃣️When entering the hall, do not step on the threshold; cross it to enter
3⃣️After entering the hall, do not talk, eat, or preferably take photos (two lights shine together, one will be harmed. I heard this, so I never take photos of Buddha statues in temples)
4⃣️If you're not specifically there to ask for wealth or career success, don't make too specific requests when worshiping, such as asking the Buddha to bless you with a promotion and a raise next year or success in a certain matter. If the wish you make casually comes true, you need to return to the temple to repay your vow, otherwise, there will be negative consequences... (This was a reminder from a tour guide during a previous trip) After all, if it's a wish made without intention, you might forget it
5⃣️It's a good idea to prepare some change🪙 in advance for donations
🍜Eating:
✅The vegetarian noodles at Bao Lian Temple are very popular online🔥, and they indeed taste good with a fresh soup. It's also recommended to try the vegetarian buns, which are also very good👍
✅As for pastries, they taste good, 🈶️ with six different flavors and shapes, beautiful and delicious. If you want to buy them, you should go early to the place where they sell vegetarian noodles, as they may run out later. 💰38/box
📿Bracelets:
✅💰48 Bao Lian Temple's eighteen-seed bracelets are very popular🔥, but many netizens reported strange reactions after wearing them, so I didn't buy one
✅I bought two other styles, which are also very beautiful and I like them a lot
There are many consecrated items, such as combs, phone lanyards, bracelets, prayer beads, bangles, hairpins, etc.
✅Don't follow the trend, choose what you like.
⚠️⚠️⚠️Consecrated items should not be worn while bathing or sleeping, they must not come into contact with water, and should not be placed in the bathroom, toilet, or kitchen❗️❗️❗️
After leaving Bao Lian Temple, you can go to the snack street to walk around, eat snacks, or have a barbecue
You should visit the Bao Lian Temple in Xuzhou at least once in 2024
In this era, we are not short of jokes, but of truth; not short of affection, but of sincerity; maintain passion, and head towards the mountains and seas.

The architecture of Bao Lian Temple🪷 is very beautiful and photogenic!

Baolian Temple: Through a millennium of vicissitudes, it has been rebuilt and now shines once again
I am Guanhai Tingtao tour+ a global traveler, please follow me!
(Published the 1660th travel photography article in 56 countries/regions and 1004 cities across 5 continents)
Baolian Temple is located at Pantao Mountain in the northeast corner of Xuzhou city, and is a sacred Buddhist site.
Baolian Temple is the practice ground of Maitreya Bodhisattva, originally established during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, and has experienced a thousand years of changes. It has been known successively as Longhua Temple, Hongfeng Temple, and Honglian Temple, and was finally named Baolian Temple during the Qing Dynasty's Qianlong era, falling into disuse on the eve of liberation. In 2009, it was rebuilt after nearly four years of reconstruction.
Inside Baolian Temple, there are 'eight halls, two pavilions, and one courtyard', with architecture that fully displays the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty style. The highest structure, the Tongtian Pavilion, is 59.88 meters tall and is the tallest Buddhist pavilion in China. The Maitreya Bodhisattva statue it houses is 39.88 meters high and is also the largest indoor cast copper Buddha statue in China.
Although Baolian Temple is not large, it is stunningly beautiful. I have never seen a temple with such architectural style before, with a somewhat exotic charm, very beautiful and photogenic. The scenic area is now free of charge, and a 2-hour visit is sufficient. This place can definitely be counted as one of the most worthwhile attractions in Xuzhou.

Yunlong Mountain Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A Healing Hotel Worth Experiencing!
There's such a Zen-inspired resort hotel in the downtown area of Xuzhou!
This trip to Xuzhou was quite rushed, just passing by for half a day and one night, mainly for this five-star hotel and its barbecue, satisfied upon departure.
Hotel: Yundongjing
Location: Buildings 1 and 2, Yundong Road, Yunlong Mountain, starting at 1189
The hotel opened in 2023, and in Xuzhou, it is a uniquely designed five-star designer hotel. The entire building is a sunken structure with mortise and tenon joints, and the activity area and guest rooms are all on the same level, looking from the outside like a huge Chinese palace. The location is excellent, quiet amidst the hustle and bustle.
Style: The hotel has a Chinese Zen healing style, with tea fragrance everywhere. Upon check-in, there is a welcome tea, a choice of complimentary bath salts, and the morning tea is quite unique, kept warm in a thermos hung on the room door in the morning. There are free singing bowl healing classes, but unfortunately, we were too pressed for time to experience them.
Hardware: The room size is not very large, which is somewhat disappointing. There is underfloor heating and central air conditioning, so it's not cold at all after a shower. Each room has a small balcony, but due to the overall sunken structure, the balcony has high walls.
Bedding: Fairly standard, in line with five-star hotel configurations
Amenities: Parma water toiletries with a fresh orange scent, Dyson hairdryer, and various styling nozzles included.
Mini bar: Tea, coffee, and drinks are all available.
Breakfast: Customized health set menu plus buffet. To be honest, I don't know how to appreciate the health meals, but the taste of the buffet pastries is very good.
Xuzhou Half-Day Weekend Tour to Yunlong Mountain
Find a city with delicious food and super low prices, where attractions are mostly free, then Xuzhou is the place to be,
Yunlong Mountain, also known as Stone Buddha Mountain, is divided into nine sections, winding and undulating like a divine dragon. It raises its head towards the northeast and trails its tail to the southwest, a 5A-level scenic spot. Weekend trips are spontaneous, and every weekend rest makes one want to escape the city.
Xuzhou|||Xuzhou's Yunlong Mountain is worth climbing. The mountain is not high and it takes only about fifteen minutes to reach the top, but it offers a feeling of overlooking all the other mountains, and the panoramic view of the city is super beautiful!
📩Suggestions:
It is recommended to enter from the north gate, where there are many nearby attractions, including a museum. In the afternoon, you can first visit the museum and then go climbing. It takes about half an hour to reach the viewing platform, where you can watch the sunset🌄
You can take the cable car🚡 down the mountain, a one-way trip on the ropeway costs 40 yuan, taking you directly to Yunlong Lake Station, where you can ride an electric bike.
In the evening, stroll through the Hubu Mountain night market, Hanlin, the night view is very beautiful.
A local uncle told me that he climbs Yunlong Mountain two or three times a week to exercise, mainly because there is no admission fee🎫, he loves it so much.
Finally, I hope we all practice Leave No Trace outdoors, the scenic area has garbage points, we should all take care of the environment, so that people who come later can see even more beautiful scenery.
Around China Series 15: Xuzhou Yunlong Mountain
🌈Historical Background:
Yunlong Mountain is located to the south of Xuzhou city, also known as Shifo Mountain. It has an altitude of 142 meters and stretches for 3 kilometers. The mountain is divided into nine sections, winding and undulating like a divine dragon, with its head pointing to the northeast and its tail to the southwest. During the Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo, who served as the governor of Xuzhou, frequently visited Yunlong Mountain with friends, leaving behind many famous and enduring literary works.
🚗Highlights:
Yunlong Mountain boasts both natural scenery and cultural landscapes. There are numerous cultural relics on the mountain, including the Great Stone Buddha from the Northern Wei Dynasty, Tang and Song Dynasty cliff carvings, the Song Dynasty's Crane Releasing Pavilion, the Ming Dynasty's Xinghua Zen Temple, and the Qing Dynasty's Dashiyen, among other historical and cultural monuments.
🎫Ticket Information:
Free, with a recommended visiting time of over 3 hours
✨Travel Tips:
Yunlong Mountain covers a large area. Although not tall, it is quite long, and the mountains and peaks resemble a series of steps. Entering from the archway opposite the Xuzhou Museum, you can first visit the Yunlong Academy, which has many cliff carvings, and then hike up to the Dashiyen Temple and Xinghua Zen Temple. Alternatively, you can enter directly from the east gate of Yunlong Mountain to Xinghua Zen Temple. After visiting these places, you can head south, climbing up to the scenic viewing platform, which offers the best views. From there, you can see the entire Yunlong Lake. It is recommended to come in the afternoon to witness the sunset over Yunlong Lake, which is particularly stunning. The evening breeze is also very pleasant. There are not many scenic spots in the latter sections of the mountain, and the paths involve a lot of ascending and descending, so it is not recommended to continue. After the viewing platform, you can exit through the west exit. There are many forks in the road down the mountain, and any of them will take you west to Yunlong Lake.
Charming Xuzhou, the bustling Pengcheng
In my impression, Xuzhou was just an ancient city known for the Huaihai Campaign. It was only after visiting that I realized this city is not only historically profound, with a rich Han cultural heritage, but also possesses the prosperity, beauty, and fashion of a modern metropolis. It is not only the hometown of Emperor Liu Bang but also the place where he appointed his younger brother Liu Jiao as the King of Chu. The famous King of Chu's mausoleums are located here, and the well-known national treasures such as the jade suit sewn with gold thread and the jade dragon ornament were unearthed from these tombs.
Yunlong Lake is rippling with clear waves, with boats coming and going, beautiful, open, and full of vitality. Yunlong Mountain may not be high, but ancient temples are scattered on the mountain, including Bodhi Temple, Dashiyansi Temple, and Xinghua Zen Temple, with ancient-style architecture, thriving incense, and the sound of bells and drums that never cease.
Accompanied by the green pines and bamboo, it truly feels like entering a paradise. Particularly surprising is the Yunlong Academy hidden in a corner of Yunlong Mountain. This academy is grand in scale, with simple and ancient architecture, and each building is flanked by elegant couplets. These couplets reflect a profound cultural heritage, showcasing the brilliance of ancient Confucian classics. Here, it is quiet and elegant, and once inside, one is free from all distractions. The ancients were wise to love learning and to choose such a secluded place; I truly envy them!
The Han Cultural Park in Xuzhou is grand, with pleasant scenery and a strong cultural atmosphere. The mysterious King of Chu's mausoleum is a testament to the wisdom and luxury of the ancients; the exquisite terracotta warriors of the Han dynasty highlight the continuous improvement in pottery art; the beautiful Han paintings depict the rich and colorful life of the Han era, leading one to ponder the connection with a thousand years of history... Walking in the park is like traveling back to the Han dynasty, feeling a sense of pride as a citizen of the great Han.
The hustle and bustle and the lively atmosphere of Xuzhou are mainly reflected in Hui Long Wo and Hubu Mountain Pedestrian Street in the city center. These two places have beautiful night scenes and brilliant lights. They possess the beauty of the Ten-Mile Qinhuai River and the romance of Chengdu's Wide and Narrow Alleys... Being there is like strolling through a celestial market, as if one has also taken on an ethereal aura.
The delicacies of Xuzhou are the legendary 'clay pot stewed chicken' and 'special noodles (rice noodles)', which are delicious and affordable. The small shops are also decorated in an ancient style, which is very tasteful.
...
The trip to Xuzhou was a feast for the eyes, with beautiful scenery, delicious food, and a broad view of Han culture, especially the Han paintings and the exquisite terracotta warriors of the Han dynasty, which were refreshing. The three-day trip to Xuzhou and Taierzhuang ancient city was truly worthwhile! Yunlong Mountain

Yaowan Ancient Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
After the tourist season, the ancient town of Yaowan in Jiangsu has become deserted, and the night view is not beautiful.
Jiang'an Yaowan Ancient Town is located on the shore of Luoma Lake in Xinyi City, Xuzhou. It is adjacent to Suqian City and has prospered since ancient times. Yaowan is known as the first ancient town on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and has a history of more than a thousand years. After the hoh/11 tourist season, the ancient town of Yaowan began to become deserted. There were not many tourists in the ancient town. At night, it was almost empty, but the night view of the ancient town was still beautiful.
Take in the old town at night, although there are no tourists, the lamp is still on, more beautiful than the daytime. The size of the ancient town of Yaowan is not too large, and some are being built.
Commercial street in the ancient town, there are many old shops and restaurants on this street, but there are not many normal business, maybe only weekend visitors will have more.
The old town of Yaowan in the daytime also has few tourists. The ancient town feels clean and tidy. From the gate of the north gate, there is a large piece of ancient architecture on one side and Laojiao River on the other. The
Laojiao River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal meet here. The ancient town is surrounded by water on three sides. The ancient town of Yaowan has some spirituality due to water. More than 100 years ago, Guzhen was a north-south water transport hub and an important commodity distribution center.
There are many old shops on the old town of Yaowan, which were preserved at that time. There are pawnshops, sauce gardens, wineries and many clubs in the ancient town, as well as a Catholic church, which has a history of more than 100 years.
The commercial street during the day is still deserted, and there are not many merchants opening. The ancient town of Northern Jiangsu is different from the ancient towns of Zhouzhuang and Tongli in Jiangnan, and prefers the ancient town of Yaowan under the night.
The ancient town of Yaowan has been formed for more than two thousand years. The ancient town area is surrounded by water on three sides, facing the land and perfectly matching with nature.
Dongwang and Hai, South Huaiyu, Xigu Pengcheng, Beizhan Taihao.
Away from the kiln bay of the city, it has not been destroyed by the war, but with the vicissitudes of history, it has lost its original prosperity.
Flying in the air townspeople, tell me a few core points, the ancient town in the sunset, the sun is not dazzling, holiday resort recommended.
Xuzhou Tourism has a strong momentum | The seriously underestimated treasure spot
Unexpectedly, Xinyi, a small city in northern Jiangsu, has such a beautiful natural landscape as Maling Mountain. Although Maling Mountain is not as towering as Nanjing's Purple Mountain, it is lush and full of strange rocks. The mountains are stacked, the fog in the mountains is steaming, like a fairyland, and I want to go again to enjoy the flowers and hike during the National Day holiday.
✅About transportation
🚘Nanjing-Maling Mountain Self-driving about 3 hours
📍Navigation: Maling Mountain Scenic Spot Parking Lot, charged by time, 10 yuan
🎫Ticket: 60 yuan, it is recommended to get an annual card, which is also 60 yuan, which is more cost-effective
⭐Route: Maling Mountain-Yaowan Ancient Town
✅First stop Maling Mountain National Day recommended route
First Jiangshan→Maling Ancient Road→Longtai→Zangbing Cave →Xiaolong Gully→Xiaolong Waterfall→Huating Tribe
‼First Jiangshan to Longtai Post Station (Terraced Flower Sea) Hiking about 40 minutes
‼Terraced Flower Sea to Huating Tribe: It is recommended to take a sightseeing car, about 10 minutes
1⃣️First Jiangshan, you can see the four big characters "First Jiangshan" at the entrance, it is said to be from Qianlong's hand
2⃣️Maling Ancient Road, during the Warring States Period, Sun Bin defeated his old classmate Pang Juan, there is a giant sculpture that reproduces the war of that year
3⃣️Longtai, the place where Emperor Qianlong met the people who came to greet him, there are statues of Qianlong and two ministers who greeted him and the golden dragon head spraying water.
4⃣️Zangbing Cave, a very wide and straight cave, about 800 meters long, with a light show inside
5⃣️Xiaolong Gully, a popular check-in spot, with a fairy-like plank road, like entering a dream, there are several large and small waterfalls along the way
6⃣️Xiaolong Waterfall, a place I particularly like, the very popular waterfall is here, very shocking
⚠️If you like hiking, pay attention to the above route, the scenery along the way is beautiful and the air is good, the natural oxygen bar of nature
7⃣️Huating Tribe, blooming pink muhly grass, a large pink flower sea, like the beautiful picture of Korean drama.
✅Second stop Yaowan Ancient Town
🚘Maling Mountain-Yaowan Ancient Town Self-driving about 35 minutes
🅿Parking fee: 10 yuan per time
🎫Ticket: Free
This thousand-year-old town was once prosperous, and it has the reputation of "Zhouzhuang in the south of the Yangtze River, and Yaowan in the north of the Yangtze River". The ancient town has green bricks and black tiles, and the river is crisscrossed. Walking in it, it feels like a water town in the south of the Yangtze River.
▶️Must-visit attractions
1⃣️Zhao Xinlong Soy Sauce Garden, a 400-year-old brand, a large area of dark brown soy sauce jars are arranged in the open air, the jar covers are made of grass, very local
2⃣️Wu Family Courtyard, a wealthy tobacco merchant's house during the Kangxi period, has a history of more than 300 years. The ancient and quaint Qing Dynasty architecture group is the best preserved ancient architecture in Yaowan
3⃣️Suzhen Yang Guild Hall Small bridges and flowing water, pavilions, towers and pavilions, one step at a time, it makes people think they are in the gardens of the south of the Yangtze River.
Compared with the daytime, I prefer the night of Yaowan, where the colorful lights dress up the ancient town into a fairyland. There are many activities in the evening, such as Yanjia Blacksmith Pu, Water Flying Man, and the Iron Flower in the river is even more exciting, countless sparks are like thousands of stars falling into the Milky Way!
✅About accommodation
Recommend Songzhuang Homestay, next to Maling Mountain Scenic Area, the environment is elegant and comfortable, you can fish, you can feed alpacas, enjoy the slow life of the treasure homestay
This underrated city in Jiangsu hides a stunning pink flower sea
🎉This underrated city in Jiangsu hides a stunning pink flower sea.💐 There are many exciting activities around waiting to be explored. During the National Day holiday, I found the most beautiful pink flower sea in Jiangsu, and there is no need to worry about crowding, you can take pictures freely.
🎊In addition, there is a fascinating light show waiting to be appreciated. Here you can not only enjoy flowers, but also camp, taste intangible cultural heritage, participate in crab competitions, etc., both adults and parent-child tours can find fun! 😍📸🌸
I visited two niche attractions in Xuzhou, namely Maling Mountain Scenic Area and Yaowan Ancient Town. Now I will sort out a strategy, I hope it will help everyone, so that you can have fun in Xuzhou! 🗺️✍️
🚄Travel Transportation
📍Maling Mountain Scenic Area (8:30~16:30)
Take the train from Nanjing South to Maling Mountain (Xinyi South Station), the whole journey is about 2.5 hours, and then take a taxi from the train station for only 24 minutes to reach the destination. 🚂🌳
📍Yaowan Ancient Town (9:00-21:50)
Yaowan Ancient Town is located at the intersection of Piyao Line and Yao Pao Line in Xinyi City, Xuzhou City. It is recommended to drive by yourself, parking is convenient! Itinerary: Maling Mountain➡️Yaowan Ancient Town. 🚗📍
🌿Attractions Strategy
1⃣ Maling Mountain
The daytime is a good time for taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. The pink flower sea here is intoxicating, whether it is portrait or landscape photography, you can take excellent works. The waterfall landscape is also quite spectacular, just like the beautiful scenery in Fujian. In addition, the chrysanthemum terraces are also a very suitable place for taking pictures. 🌺📷💦
💕Tips: Be sure to ensure that your mobile phone and camera are fully charged, because you will not be able to stop taking pictures, and your album may be full haha~📱💥
2⃣ Yaowan Ancient Town
Arrive at Yaowan Ancient Town around 5 pm, you can stroll around the ancient street here and enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the sunset. At night, the light show and iron flower performance will bring you a shocking visual experience. I personally especially like Zhao Xinlong Soy Sauce Garden. This old brand with a history of 400 years shows unique local characteristics. Wearing Chinese-style clothes and taking pictures here can definitely take a big picture.
🎋In addition, Suzhen Yang Guild Hall is also a beautiful place, small bridges, flowing water, pavilions and pavilions make people feel as if they are in Suzhou. If you come with your children, don't miss the crab competition, it's really fun! We had a great time playing with the crabs, and we didn't have time to take pictures at all, haha~Catching crabs is both thrilling and exciting! And the important thing is that you can also get a beautiful gift! 🌆🎪🦀

Huilongwo Historical and Cultural Block in Xuzhou City Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Xuzhou | Huilongwo - A classical town in the city
Huilongwo is the site of the ancient city wall ruins of Xuzhou, built during the Qing Dynasty. It is a typical residential area of traditional Xuzhou architecture, located in the city center. The district not only features garden-style buildings but also modern cafes, Western restaurants, and local Xuzhou snacks. If you want to trace back through history, the Ancient City Wall Museum is also located here.
The district's layout and architecture are also very distinctive, blending modern aesthetics with a sense of historical weight.
At night, when the street lights are lit, it feels like traveling back a hundred years, immersing oneself in the historical travel experience.
Address: No. 8 Jiefang Road, Yunlong District, Xuzhou
Bus route: Take bus No. 62, 65, 39, 19, or 20 to the China Life Insurance Station, and walk about 300 meters to arrive.
Xuzhou—A Cherry Blossom Viewing Trip to Hui Long Wo
In the Hui Long Wo of Xuzhou, there is a cherry blossom avenue that allows you to experience the beauty of a modern city in this ancient neighborhood. Clusters of flowers adorn the trees, while beneath them, crowds gather to admire the cherry blossoms. Occasionally, you'll see beautiful women and handsome men dressed in Hanfu passing by, creating an illusion of time travel. In the spring season, you can feel the warm breath of spring, which is very delightful.
Huilong Nest - City Wall Museum
Xuzhou's must-visit Huilong Nest historical and cultural district—the first stop is the Xuzhou City Wall Museum. The place is not big, but it is a witness to the history of Xuzhou. This is a building from the Ming Dynasty over 600 years ago. Due to the Yellow River changing its course in ancient times, Xuzhou frequently suffered from floods. After the ancient city of Xuzhou was repeatedly submerged, new constructions were continuously built on top of the old city. This formed the ancient city's legacy of 'city beneath city, government office beneath government office, street beneath street, well beneath well'. Seeing these ancient relics, one can't help but admire the wisdom and intelligence of the ancients, leaving behind a historical and cultural heritage for future generations.
Xuzhou Hui Long Wo Travel Guide | Things only locals know
Hui Long Wo | Why do so many locals recommend this attraction? First, it's because it has many ancient buildings from Xuzhou, some of which can even be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, making it especially great for 📸. There are many restaurants (most with an average cost of 50-80 per person, I've tried quite a few, and the taste is generally good), specialty shops (bronze ware, Zhang Xiaoquan scissors, etc.), snack stalls, and the prices are generally within a normal range. It's a place where locals in Xuzhou also like to hang out.
-
⭐⭐Transportation
🔸Don't drive❌ It's super congested on holidays, and hard to find parking
🔸Ride a 🛵 and navigate to Pengcheng Courtyard Cultural and Creative Industry Park! Easy parking, there are Mobike and HelloBike parking spots right at the entrance, and at Pengcheng Courtyard you can also check in at a huge hand-painted 🐱 wall (if you enter from here, be sure to ask the security guard where the toilets are first, as the toilets in Pengcheng Courtyard are upstairs, otherwise, especially on holidays, the two toilets in Hui Long Wo are either far away or have long queues)
🔸🚇 Take the subway line 2 to Hubu Mountain Station, which goes directly to Hui Long Wo
-
⭐⭐Attractions:
① Ancient City Wall Ruins
Right next to the Cat's Sky City, that glass section is it, the city wall is below, really cool, and the glass walkway is also very interestingly constructed.
② City Wall Museum
Open from 11:00-17:00, no documents or reservations required. It has two floors, the ground floor and the basement. The ground floor exhibits are not fixed; I've seen photography exhibitions, packaging exhibitions, etc., and they change regularly. The basement displays some historical graphics of Xuzhou, and you can actually touch the ancient city wall.
-
⭐⭐Photography 📸
You can rent Hanfu for 30 yuan an hour, and the atmosphere is even better at night than during the day. If you go at night, it's best to bring a small light to illuminate your face, which is convenient for post-editing.
The ancient city wall ruins and the City Wall Museum are both very photogenic, and there are many other good spots, but there's one place that basically only locals know about, which is a small garden opposite the walking Xuzhou, where many local girls go to take pictures in Hanfu during the day. It has pavilions, ponds, and is a good spot for photography.
-
⭐⭐Eating
Behind Cat's Sky City, where there used to be a parking lot, there's now a Xuzhou Night Si, which is said to be a night market but is also open during the day. It's just the usual downtown Xuzhou night market prices, with wheel cakes, fountain beef offal, Xuzhou grilled gluten, grilled lamb skewers, etc., all available there. I usually eat at the night market when I go there myself.
For restaurants with an average cost of ten to twenty yuan, you can go to eat at Model Rice Noodles, and for other large restaurants, the decor is usually quite distinctive, so you can search for reviews and choose according to your taste.
-
⭐⭐Stamps and Souvenirs:
Three stamping points
① Cat's Sky City, with 6 stamps, used to be free, but later when more people came to stamp, you had to buy a 3 yuan postcard at the cashier first, and then you can stamp after paying, and you can also send postcards.
② Walking Xuzhou, with two stamps, free to stamp, official design, no consumption required. At the official store, you can buy a passport for 9.9 yuan, which compared to the blank passport from the creators, has pictures of the attractions and will guide you to where the official stamps for each attraction are. You can also buy edible and specialty souvenirs here; I've bought Lvliang peanut candy here before, which was really good, with generally good flavors, nice packaging, and prices ranging from 10 to 30 yuan.

Xuzhou Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Xuzhou 48-Hour Gourmet Travel Check-in Guide
Traveling to Xuzhou from Beijing and Shanghai, the high-speed train takes only a minimum of 2.5 hours, making it suitable for weekend trips. Most attractions in Xuzhou do not charge an entrance fee, and there is a 2000-year-old barbecue culture, with the average cost per person in restaurants rarely exceeding 70 yuan. Many people have already regarded it as a budget travel destination, but it has not yet become as popular as Harbin or Tianshui.
Must-visit spot 1: Guishan Han Tomb, the most magnificent discovered among the tombs of the kings of Chu, with a total of 15 tomb chambers and an area of over 700 square meters, almost hollowing out the entire mountain. The ticket price of 80 yuan is not cheap. The scenic area also includes two additional attractions, the Imperial Edict Museum and the Dianshi Garden, which houses a large collection of stone carvings and steles. Although the collections are decent, there is a suspicion of padding.
Must-visit spot 2: Han Dynasty Relief Stone Art Gallery, free of charge. It displays nearly 600 pieces of Han Dynasty relief stone masterpieces, recreating various aspects of life during the Han Dynasty, including cattle farming, weaving, chariot travel, feasting and drinking, music and dance, myths and legends, etc., known as the 'Epic on Stone'. If time is limited, you can choose to only visit the newly built South Hall.
Must-visit spot 3: Xuzhou Museum, free of charge. Hundreds of Han tombs are scattered around Xuzhou, and the unearthed artifacts such as gold-threaded, silver-threaded, and copper-threaded jade garments, as well as jade dragons, pottery figurines, and lacquer coffins inlaid with jade, are all on display here. As a must-visit for tourists, it is best to make a reservation in advance to ensure entry on the day.
Other attractions are optional, including: Baolian Temple near Xuzhou East Station, built in 2009, where the internet-famous pastries need to be purchased early in the morning and are quickly sold out after lunch, free admission; Xima Terrace, newly built in 1985, where the exhibition hall is used to tell the story of Xiang Yu from birth to defeat in battle, free of charge; Hubu Mountain under Xima Terrace, where several famous residences are located, which compared to the thousands of ancient streets across the country, are not particularly distinctive, free of charge; Huilongwo next to Hubu Mountain subway station, which was once known for its low-lying terrain and difficulty in draining rainwater, has now become a commercial street constructed with antique buildings, free of charge.
Regarding Han tombs, Shizishan Han Tomb (also known as Han Culture Scenic Area), Beidongshan Han Tomb Exhibition Hall (to be opened in 2024), and Baiji Han Tomb are also quite famous and worth considering.
Eating in Xuzhou: Most barbecue restaurants open after 4 p.m. and close around 1 or 2 a.m. The barbecue restaurant Lvdi Sanzhiyang in the city center is particularly popular, with many people still waiting for a table even after 11 p.m. If you really want to try the barbecue, it is recommended to go when they open in the afternoon or to visit shops that are not in the city center. If you go during meal times, be prepared to queue for two hours.
Xuzhou has several food streets, including the 1818 Night Market, Fuguo Street, and Fengchu Street. Among them, Fengchu Street offers the best experience, with shops selling shaved ice, Bazirou (pork belly), rice noodles, steak, chicken strips, etc., all crammed into a short street, with waiting times not being exaggerated.
If you want to eat Xuzhou cuisine, you should look for restaurants that serve dishes like clay pot chicken and garlic burst fish. The differences between those old restaurants that have been open for decades are not significant. If any internet-famous restaurant requires waiting for more than an hour, I would suggest checking out other shops.
For breakfast, you can consider the time-honored brand Lianglai Feng's beef potstickers, pan-fried buns, and spicy soup with egg.
