Portland Street Rest Garden reopens after renovation

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced on September 22 that the Portland Street Rest Garden in Yau Tsim Mong District has completed renovation and will be reopened to the public from 12 noon on September 23. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department, in collaboration with the Architectural Services Department, the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office and young designers from the Design Trust Ambassadors, carried out a facility renovation project at the Portland Street Rest Garden. While improving the garden environment, it also encouraged users to interact with each other, turning the garden into a gathering place for the community. Part of the renovated Portland Street Rest Garden will retain its original layout for facility renovation, optimising lighting facilities and seating; while the other part will be designed with a modern feel, incorporating innovative design and artistic elements. The entire garden, including the grounds, rest facilities and plants, is presented in simple monochrome tones, giving the venue a refreshing look. In addition, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department is carrying out related renovation works at the Hill Road Flyover Sitting-out Area in Central and Western District and the Hamilton Street Rest Garden in Yau Tsim Mong District.
