Do you like chestnuts? Gongju one-day itinerary

When you think of autumn, you think of chestnuts 🤎 Gongju is a place filled with chestnuts and serene vibes! It's a perfect destination for a light autumn getaway. 1️⃣ Cafe Sosom Near Banjuk-dong in Gongju, there are many charming cafes. True to Gongju's reputation, almost every cafe offers chestnut desserts. I visited a traditional Korean house-style cafe with a yard where cats roam. Be sure to try the chestnut cream latte—it’s amazing how big the chestnuts are! 2️⃣ Gaga Bookstore This unmanned bookstore is located right next to Cafe Sosom. Though small, it’s a cozy space filled with visitors' guestbook entries. We managed to find a blank spot to leave our mark, browsed books, and peeked at others' notes. :) 3️⃣ Danpyeonseon A cute little shop by Jemicheon Stream. The exhibitions are beautifully arranged, and the items are adorable and charming. Though the space isn’t large, it’s packed with delightful goods that make time fly while browsing. 4️⃣ Buja Rice Cake Shop ⛧ ⛧ If you love rice cakes, this is a must-visit! As a chestnut lover, I couldn’t resist stopping by for their chestnut-filled glutinous rice cakes. The rice cakes are incredibly delicious! Their famous chestnut mochi and other rice cakes are all fantastic. On my way out, I noticed they’ve received numerous Blue Ribbon awards 🥹 5️⃣ Gongsanseong Fortress Gongsanseong Fortress, which guards Gongju, is a must-see! I visited on a day with beautiful skies, and the scenery was breathtaking. It’s larger than expected, with stunning views and free parking. ♥ 6️⃣ Pitang Kimtang If you’re in Gongju, you must try Kimpitang! Gongju is known for being the birthplace of Kimpitang, and this dish is famous here. I visited what seems to be the most renowned spot, and the visually striking dish didn’t disappoint. The flavors are bold, with a tangy taste that’s surprisingly addictive and never tiresome. 7️⃣ Mrs. Peaberry After Kimpitang, we headed to another cafe. Because, of course, there’s always room for dessert! We ordered shaved ice and enjoyed the cozy and beautiful space. Besides shaved ice, they offer a wide variety of baked goods. Parking is free here too. ♥
