Gongsanseong, a representative tourist attraction in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province

#TravelMoon ✨️Gongsanseong✨️ is an ancient fortress of Baekje. It was also called ‘Ungjinseong’ (Baekje period), ‘Gongsanseong’ (Goryeo period), and ‘Ssangsusanseong’ (Joseon period). It was the capital of Baekje Ungjin period after the capital was moved from Hanseong to Ungjin in the first year of King Munju of Baekje (475), and until it was moved back to Buyeo (Sabi Castle) in the 16th year of King Seong (538). It was also the center of local administration and a strategic military location during the Goryeo and Joseon periods. It is located on a ridge 110m above sea level, and the Geumgang River flows to the north, making it a natural fortress. It was originally built with earth, but most of it was rebuilt into a stone fortress during the Joseon period. Many relics from each period have been excavated, from Baekje to Goryeo and Joseon. Inside the fortress, there are relics such as Imryugak, Yeonji, Ssangsujeong, Myeongguk Samjangbi, Gongbukru, and Jinnamru.
