[Gongju, Korea] Learn more about Gongju, the capital of Baekje during the Three Kingdoms period at the National Gongju Museum

#0yentripnovember When I heard that Gongju was once a capital, I wondered what era it was, but when I visited the first exhibition room, the Kumseongjin Baekje Room, of the National Gongju Museum, I realized that it was referring to the Baekje Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period. This exhibition room displays artifacts excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong (King Muryeong: 25th king of the Baekje Kingdom, 501-523 AD). In 1971, when they dug up a gentle hill for water pipe construction, they discovered that it was the huge tomb of King Muryeong, and an excavation was quickly carried out, unearthing 108 items and 4,600 artifacts. In the tomb, the bodies of the king and queen were placed in wooden coffins, and numerous ornaments and grave goods were found under the fragments of the wooden coffin. It makes me happy to know that they were a king and queen with good taste, even though I have no connection to it. At the booth next door, a project mapping showing the inside of King Muryeong's Tomb is shown every 30 minutes, so even if you don't understand the language, you can deepen your understanding of the inside of the tomb through visuals. It seems that it is currently not possible to see inside King Muryeong's Tomb due to excessive humidity, but at the museum you can learn about the history of the land called Gongju. In the Chungcheongnam-do History and Culture Room on the second floor, there is an exhibition about the Baekje culture that flourished in Kumseong. It is clear that Chungcheongnam-do was the center of civilization on the Korean Peninsula. National Gongju Museum 국립공주박물관
