The Oldest Building in Bilbao

Pilgrimage along Spain's Atlantic Coast ~ Basque Region Today's Gothic cathedral is built on the site of an ancient temple that dates back to the pilgrimage era of James I. The interior of the cathedral features three naves with pointed arch vaults. While the church itself is Gothic in style, the visible façade and tower were constructed in the 19th century. The choir stalls and cloister are breathtakingly beautiful, with the latter showcasing an ornate Gothic design. The basement is located on the site of the original temple, with its walls integrated into the structure.
