Interesting and Educational Visit to this place in Turpan!🇨🇳

#traveldiaries I never expected to have learned so much during my visit in Turpan. It was such a surprise. This is the Turpan Karez Paradise which shows one of the biggest water systems and channels in China. It is one of the biggest water projects in ancient China alongside with Dujiangyan Irrigation System and the Grand Canal. What is interesting here is that Turpan is a very dry desert place and people had to find ways to live. The water is actually collected from the mountains of tianshan people had to make an underground water system to channel the water to the city. There is an area of the Karez Paradise that you can actually collect drinking water straight from the flowing water as it isn’t polluted at all. You can also a see a grape tower here and where you can actually see grapes on the ceiling on the process of drying. You should visit this place! Ticket price: 40 rmb Length of visit: 1 hour
