Xinjiang, Turpan, Beshiha Grottoes.

The grottoes are distributed on both sides of the valley, including 1 courtyard, 5 worship caves, 1 monk cave, and 2 rooms on the south side of the valley; 4 monk caves and 2 ground temples on the north side of the valley. According to the murals in the cave and the unearthed relics, the grottoes are divided into two periods. The first period of relics includes the platform and courtyard in the southern area of the valley, and the No. 1 and No. 2 temples in the northern area of the valley; the period can be set from the mid-10th century to the end of the 12th century. The second period of relics includes the niches, platforms, and pagodas in front of Cave 1, murals, and rooms 1 and 2; the period can be set from the beginning of the 13th century to the end of the 14th century. The courtyard in front of the cave in the southern area of the Beshiha Grottoes and the relics unearthed in the cave include statues, murals, pottery, woodware, stoneware, and textiles. The Beshiha Grottoes are large in scale and well-preserved. Some caves still have murals. Its architectural style is unique and has a high value for studying the history of Buddhism in Xinjiang, temple architecture, and Buddhist painting art.
