[Shanghai Park Hyatt] Bund River View Suite

The basic rooms at Shanghai Park Hyatt are too plain and reserved; Tony Chi’s design truly shines only in the suites. The hotel, which opened in 2008, still feels fresh and offers a very comfortable stay. I had previously stayed in the Diplomat Suite, and this time I was lucky to use a suite voucher to secure one of the only two Park Hyatt Suites, and even luckier that the previous guest checked out early, allowing me to upgrade to the Bund River View Suite. Room selection tips: Shanghai Park Hyatt has very few suites, only 14 in total, and among them, only 2 are the basic “Park Hyatt Suites” that can be upgraded to with a suite voucher. If you see this room type available, immediately use your suite voucher to book it. The next tier up is the 4 Bund View Suites, which are almost always fully booked. If you get a chance to stay in one, among the four, rooms 8304 and 8403 offer views of the Jin Mao Tower and Oriental Pearl Tower (8304 is better, with a larger living room but diamond-shaped; 8403 has a larger diamond-shaped bedroom but a smaller, square living room). Rooms 8325 and 8426 have relatively weaker views, with part of the Oriental Pearl Tower blocked. My personal preference ranking is: 8304 > 8426 > 8403 > 8325. Above that are 6 Diplomat Suites and 2 Chairman Suites (Presidential Suites), located on the 85th and 88th floors. Both floors have high ceilings equivalent to two stories. However, avoid Diplomat Suites 8811 and 8818 as they do not have river views. One interesting point is that all Diplomat and Chairman Suites have twin beds. This time I stayed in 8304, and as soon as I opened the door, I faced the sharp tip of the Oriental Pearl Tower—truly breathtaking. Although the living room is diamond-shaped, it is very spacious, divided into a sofa area, a large desk, and a viewing area. The bedroom is square and also has a view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. I have previously stayed in and shared about the Diplomat Suite and the best non-suite room, the “Bund View Twin Room 8803/8826,” which you can search for in related notes. Also, the paid Executive Lounge on the 86th floor, “Cloudscape,” is highly recommended, and I will write a separate note about it.
