[Forgotten Times · The Invincible City] Compared to China's long history, the history of Thailand, which began with the rule of the Thai people, is not long, only about 800 years. Among the few dynasties in Thailand, the Ayutthaya Kingdom was the longest reigning, with the largest territory and the most prosperous economy, culture, politics, and trade. It lasted for more than 400 years, roughly equivalent to the Ming and Qing dynasties in China, and was eventually destroyed by Burma. Today, the Ayutthaya Kingdom, or Ayutthaya as I prefer to call it, has long since disappeared, leaving only ruins. Rent a bicycle and ride around the historic city. The palaces and temples are long gone, but countless pagodas, some intact and some in ruins, still stand. The most distinctive are the Ayutthaya-style Prang pagodas, which we jokingly call corn towers, and they are spectacular. Near dusk, head to the southwest of the city to the large Wat Chaiwatthanaram, wait for the sunset, and reflect on life. No dynasty is forever glorious, and no dynasty can last forever. 📝Tips: 1.
