The Wu Chunxiang Residence in the Dananmen Historic District of Longyou, Zhejiang

The Wu Chunxiang Residence faces 258 degrees west of east. It features a three-hall, two-bay, multi-story structure. The first hall was renovated during the Republican era, and its main gate has an arched relief lintel. The main room of the first hall has a three-purlin, two-column structure, and the secondary room also has a three-purlin, two-column structure, without an upper floor. The front courtyard is paved with strip stones, and the corbels are missing. The second hall is a two-story building, with both the upper and lower floors of the main and secondary rooms having a five-purlin, five-column structure. The e'fang (a type of beam) is square, and the beams are double beams, also square. The second hall is separated from the rear courtyard by a wall with a round doorway. The rear courtyard is paved with strip stones, and four corbels remain, simply decorated in a diagonal brace shape. The rear hall and the side rooms on both sides of the rear courtyard are all two-story buildings. The upper floor of the rear hall's main and secondary rooms has a five-purlin, five-column structure. The rafters are thick and dense, with lookout bricks on top and covered with small green tiles. The lower floor of the rear hall's main and secondary rooms both use five columns. The beams of the rear hall's corridor are slightly arched, with shrimp whisker patterns carved at both ends. Between the beams and columns are queti (bracket sets), and the other beams are square. The second and rear halls are spacious and tall, with large and sophisticated timbers. They were once paved with floor tiles, but now some areas use red bricks and others are covered with wooden boards. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, it was occupied by Japanese invaders. The building's beam-frame structure is well-preserved, and it is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
