Huang Family’s Republican-Era Building in Sanmenyuan Village, Longyou, Zhejiang

The Huang Family’s Republican-Era Building faces east. It is a two-story, three-bay courtyard house with a walkway structure, built during the Republican era. The main gate directly faces the Bixi Stream of Sanmenyuan and features a brick gate hood inscribed with "East Wind for Ten Thousand Miles." The front window on the right displays a colorful painted steamboat pattern. The front building's upper hall and secondary rooms all have a five-purlin, column-and-tie beam structure with five columns. The lower level's main room has four columns reaching the ground, while the secondary rooms have five. The lower-level beams are square, adorned with carvings of figures from theatrical stories. The front eave purlin is decorated with a double phoenix facing the sun motif. The courtyard is paved with large stone slabs, and the four corners of the courtyard's eaves pillars retain four corbels, carved with landscapes and figures. Small corbels connect the eaves pillars and purlins, decorated with human figure carvings. The side rooms on both sides of the courtyard have preserved decorative windows with geometric patterns. Railings with geometric designs are installed along the courtyard on the upper floor. The back corridor features a ceiling with wooden strips arranged in geometric patterns like the swastika. The upper hall and secondary rooms of the back building also have a five-purlin, column-and-tie beam structure with five columns. The lower level's main room has five columns reaching the ground, while the secondary rooms have four. The floor is paved with sanhe soil, using drum-shaped plinths. The roof is a hard-mountain style, decorated with horse-head walls on the exterior. It is a key cultural relic preservation site in Zhejiang Province.
