2 days and 1 night in this underrated city in Yunnan!

Kunming is often a stopover for many people traveling to Yunnan. Last time, I was just passing through on my way to Honghe Prefecture. But when I really took the time to experience it, I found that this city is worth a visit. Day 1: Citywalk Green Lake Park A must-see in Kunming, especially in winter when it's a great place to see seagulls. There are many restaurants nearby, so you can enjoy a delicious meal when you get tired of walking. Yunnan Military Academy A famous modern military academy in China, now open to the public for free. You can also see soldiers practicing and feel the weight of history. Huanggong East Street Yellow walls and green windows create a retro and artistic atmosphere. A popular street for taking photos. Trinity International Chapel Built in 1903, it is a typical Gothic-style building. Standing on the overpass and taking a photo with the church makes you feel like you're abroad. Huashan South Road A traditional commercial building complex built during the Republic of China. The popular "Kunming" sign and Ho Chi Minh's former residence are located here, where history and modernity intertwine. Abnormal Coffee Even though it was under renovation when I visited, the "Kunming" sign at the entrance has already become a must-see for tourists. Kunming Old Street (Duiyue Tower) Similar to Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu, it perfectly combines old residential buildings with modern commerce. The popular Duiyue Tower is also located here. Nanping Pedestrian Street A bustling commercial street in Kunming with food, shopping, and photo opportunities. Day 2: Citycar Daguan Park A free treasure park that includes Yu Garden, the ancestral home of Harlem Yu. You can see seagulls during the day and lanterns at night. Baohua Temple Known as the "Little Forbidden City" of Kunming, with red walls and yellow tiles, it's a great place for photos. Yunnan Provincial Museum Learn about a city by visiting its museum. If you have time, the nearby Guandu Ancient Town is also worth a visit. Dounan Flower Market The largest fresh-cut flower market in Asia, with affordable prices and a wide variety of flowers. Dounan Wetland Park A lesser-known place to watch the sunset over Dianchi Lake, with few people and beautiful scenery, including a matcha-like forest. If you're short on time, you can skip one of the first three attractions on the second day. Accommodation Recommendations Green Lake, Nanping Pedestrian Street, and Kunming Old Street are all good accommodation options with convenient transportation.
