Museum Guide The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is located in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui. It was formerly the Whitfield Barracks Blocks S61 and S62. These two barracks were gradually handed over to the government for recreational and cultural purposes in 1967. Later, the buildings were restored by the Antiquities and Monuments Office and opened to the public as the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in 2005. The centre covers an area of 4,000 square meters and is now a Grade I historic building. The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre began exhibitions in mid-2007, focusing on archaeology and heritage buildings. It introduces Hong Kong’s modern history and precious artifacts, showcasing the changes in different eras of Hong Kong. The centre also features interactive installations and modern display facilities. The corridor is paved with classic blue and white porcelain tiles, and the exhibition halls are artistically designed.
