#hongkongtrip Located in Kowloon Park, Kowloon, Hong Kong, Tsimahatsui MTR station Exit A. It was built in 1890’s whilst Hong Kong was under British rule as the site of British Army’s Whitfield Barracks, used until 1967. The construction was made adaptable to local climate through the use of local techniques and materials; pitched tarred Chinese tiled roofs, deep flattened arch colonnaded verandahs of each elevation, wooden shutters, raised semi basement under colonnade verandahs for better ventilation. Later it was restored and converted into museum complex and opened to public in 2005. It features exhibitions on the origins of archaeological treasure of Hong Kong dating back 6,000 years.
