My Dumaguete Trip: A Much-Needed Break from the City

Last October, I went to Dumaguete for my cousin’s wedding, but honestly, it felt more like a much-needed break. Every time I visit, I get to slow down, enjoy nature, and just breathe. A Chill Walk at Rizal Boulevard First stop? Rizal Boulevard. It’s the perfect place for a morning or evening stroll. We walked along the bay, felt the sea breeze, and grabbed some tempura from a street vendor. Simple but relaxing! Good Food at Gabby’s Bistro Of course, food is a must! We ate at Gabby’s Bistro, a cozy spot with good food at an affordable price. For around ₱300 per person, we left with happy stomachs. A Nature Retreat at Forest Camp One of the best parts of the trip was Forest Camp. It’s surrounded by trees, with natural pools and hot springs. Super refreshing! I think the entrance fee is around ₱500-₱1,000, but either way, it was worth it. A Quick Stop at The Barn We also checked out The Barn, which isn’t fully developed yet, but the views? Sobrang ganda! It’s peaceful and perfect if you just want to take in nature. My Favorite Spot: The Hidden Sapa But my absolute favorite? The sapa near our house. It’s just a 5 to 10-minute walk, but every time I visit, I make sure to go there. It’s my safe haven—just the sound of the water, fresh air, and peace. Last Stop: Pasalubong Shopping! Before heading home, we stopped by a tiangge for souvenirs and bought silvanas—because you can’t leave Dumaguete without them! These buttery, crunchy treats are a must-try. More Than Just a Wedding Trip This trip was supposed to be about my cousin’s wedding, but for me, it became a chance to slow down and recharge before heading back to Manila. Dumaguete has this charm that always makes me want to stay longer. #Dumaguete #TravelDiaries #NatureEscape #PhilippinesTravel #Wanderlust
