Chiryu Flower Festival (花じょうぶまつり)💐🪻

Chiryu City has flourished as a transportation hub since ancient times, and is famous for the Kamakura Kaido built in the Kamakura period, the Ikegoi Carp Gate, the 39th post town on the Tokaido in the Edo period, and for its horse market. Traces of the Tokaido from the Edo period can still be seen in the city. In the Edo period, it was written as Chiryu (carp in the pond), and the furigana in the historical Kana usage was “Chirifu”. Chiryu Park is famous for its irises, which were given as gifts by the Emperor and Empress Meiji, and this is the main reason why many people visit this festival every year. In addition to the beautiful flowers, you can enjoy various cultural events, tea parties, take photos, and see traditional “karakuri” dolls.
