Shiryu Festival 2023 Shiryu Festival

The Shiryu Festival is held on May 2nd and 3rd every year, with floats measuring 7 meters high and weighing 5 tons brought from five cities to participate in the festival. At the biennial Honmatsuri Festival, the floats roll through the streets as if they are about to crush the eaves of houses one by one. The floats head to the shrine accompanied by festival songs called “Kamimai” and performances of bunraku and karakuri on the floats. In the following year’s Aimatsuri, the bunraku and karakuri performances are not performed, but the floats are beautifully decorated as a dedication to the shrine. #TravelJapan #ShiryuFestival #知立祭 #TravelJapanByYourself
