The artistic charm of stone carving: Quyang Stone Carving Exhibition at the National Museum of China

The National Museum of China has many exhibition halls, including exhibitions co-hosted by the National Museum and local governments and museums. Quyang in Hebei Province is rich in white marble and is known as the "Hometown of Stone Carving" in China. This exhibition is called "Graceful Craftsmanship". The exhibition is divided into two parts: "Millennium Radiance" and "Ancient Charm, Modern Style". The exhibits include items from the National Museum's collection, mostly representative Quyang stone carving treasures from the Han, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties, Five Dynasties, and Song and Yuan Dynasties selected from Quyang, as well as contemporary masterpieces by Quyang stone carving artisans. Figure 1, a painted warrior statue, is a high-relief carving on white marble from the Sui, Tang, and Five Dynasties period. Unearthed in Quyang, it was a funerary object that was once lost to the United States, later returned through auction, and is now housed in the National Museum. Figures 3/4, painted relief carvings of the Chinese zodiac animals dragon and horse, are both works from the Sui, Tang, and Five Dynasties period, unearthed in Quyang as funerary objects. Figure 8 features two statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, works from the Eastern Wei Dynasty. Figure 9, "Hairpin Phoenix" from the "Ancient Charm" series, is a contemporary work. At the National Museum, you can see authentic and exquisite pieces. The first floor of the National Museum has detailed exhibition hall distribution maps in the North and South Halls, making it convenient for visitors to plan their visits. Currently, reservations are easy through the WeChat mini-program, and today I saw that there are slots available for tomorrow and the next five days.
