Pay homage to the Sukhothai-era Buddha statue at Wat Kai Tia.

🏡Wat Kai Tia was built around 1777, at the end of the Thonburi period, by Phra Narintararatchaseni (Phuean), the father of Than Phuying On, wife of Chao Phraya Rattanaphiphit. It underwent major restoration in 1968. The important and interesting features within the temple include: 🏠The ordination hall: The gable features a seated Buddha image in meditation posture, with a chicken figure in a circle below (likely made according to the temple's name). The gable is decorated with intricate floral and foliage patterns. Inside, the principal Buddha image is a Sukhothai-era statue with an inscription indicating it was cast in 1446. It is believed to have been brought from the northern provinces during the reign of King Rama I. ⛺The vihara: It is believed to have been built at the same time as the original ordination hall. The wooden gable features a central Garuda, with a celestial mansion carved amidst intricate patterns at the top. 🙏The Buddha's footprint: Located between the ordination hall and the vihara within the inner wall. 🛎The bell tower: An old brick and mortar structure, two stories high. 📔The Tripitaka hall: A two-story brick and mortar building with artistic features from the reign of King Rama III.
