"My recent stay at the Ibis Styles Hotel in Kunming was a great experience. Affordable price point, outstanding service, remarkable comfort, and thoughtful attention to detail. First and foremost, the room was impressive. It was surprisingly spacious, very clean, and extremely comfortable. It provided a perfect sanctuary to relax after a day of exploring the city. What truly made this stay memorable, however, was the incredible staff. I have to give a special shout-out to Ms. Wan at the front desk. I arrived very late on my first night, tired from the journey. Instead of a rushed check-in, Ms. Wan was exceptionally patient, warm, and thorough. She took the time to give me a helpful introduction to the hotel's surroundings, and as a wonderful welcome gesture, she even kindly upgraded my room! This first interaction set a fantastic tone for my entire visit. The kindness didn't stop there. The rest of the staff continued this high standard of service. I tend to drink a lot of water, and they quickly noticed this. Instead of the standard two bottles per day, the housekeeping team consistently left six bottles of water in my room without me ever having to ask. It’s this level of proactive and thoughtful service that shows they genuinely care about their guests' comfort. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and had a positive attitude. The combination of a great room and a team that goes above and beyond makes this hotel a true gem in Kunming. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. It offers incredible value for money, and I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kunming. Thank you to the entire team, especially Ms. Wan, for making my stay so pleasant!"

"Minimalist approach by the hotel needs improvement, the towels are little old and best replaced, the toiletry is basic and needs to be replenished with more without asking There were two receptionists, one is very polite and helpful providing a very pleasant service. however, the other is completely opposite, being unhelpful, provides bare minimum in answer and seems that any query is a bother to her. So training to upskilled to the latter is required. The accommodation is a motel style that is close to the Tangzixiang metro and walking distance to the kunming old town . Very convenient for travellers who just need a bed and a shower to rest. Overall a pleasant stay."

"Booked a family room for 3 adults, got a loft with 2 queen size bed. Room is clean and bed comfortable. Amenities fully equipped. Comfortable stay. Choices available for set breakfast. Overall value for money. Just across Nanping street, and available local food all near the hotel. Very convenient and highly recommended. As hotel is near old town, cars can't drive up to the hotel, so do contact hotel ahead of time so they can direct you where your driver can stop the car and they will come out to help you with your luggages, just less than 2 min."

"Couldn’t ask more for Atour Hotel. Everything meets or exceeds our expectations. The room is good size, amenities are modern and functional; super comfortable beds and pillows; the breakfast is delicious; the location is second to none (eateries, shopping all nearby); and last but not least, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We even got a takeaway breakfast on the day of checking out because our train was early morning and had no time to have breakfast at the restaurant. Will definitely recommend to everyone who come to Kunming!"

"I'd give this hotel 10 stars if I could! On the day before our check in, the staff reached out to us to ensure we would have no problems. It was easy to connect with the hotel on wechat and their responses are very prompt. The setting of the hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are exactly as pictured. The hotel staff was very kind to give us a room upgrade. The facilities are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The room provided everything you could need. The room came with many activities that we could enjoy as well, which included a calligraphy experience, hanfu costume experience and tea experience. Regrettably, we did not get to take part in these as we had other plans, but this was a nice bonus. I do not have pictures of the room but I have attached images of the amazing breakfast I had here. The breakfast options were plentiful and they even check in with you the day before on what you would like to have, so that you do not have to wait long when you have breakfast the next day. The afternoon tea was also a delicious selection of snacks. The hotel also offers goodnight dessert every night which was again, super yummy. Finally, I want to commend the service of this hotel. They gave us such a warm welcome from the moment we entered and were always attentive to our needs. I didn't get the names of the staff who served us specifically, but all of them were 10/10! I highly recommend this hotel. One thing to note, there are no lifts so if accessibility is an issue, do check with the hotel! They have rooms on the first floor too. Truly a beautiful full stop to our trip in Yunnan 🫶💙🩵"

"The hotel boasts an excellent central location, right in the heart of the city. Stepping out, you're immediately in a bustling commercial district, and the pedestrian street, packed with dining options, is just a short walk away – incredibly convenient! The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and they even offered a complimentary room upgrade. Our room wasn't particularly spacious, but being on a higher floor, it offered fantastic views, especially the beautiful city nightscape. However, waiting for the elevators could be a bit slow. The room's amenities were comprehensive, and we were generally very pleased. The only minor point for improvement was that the toilet seat didn't seem thoroughly cleaned, despite disposable covers being provided. The breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, though the taste was just average."

"Holiday Inn Kunming City Centre – this place is truly a luxurious hideaway in the urban jungle! The location is absolutely unbeatable, placing you right in the heart of Kunming the moment you step out. Shopping, dining, and sightseeing attractions are all within easy walking distance; it's so convenient, my navigation app felt completely redundant. The room was so spacious it felt like there was a VIP lane just for my luggage. The bed was so incredibly soft, it could turn anyone into a 'Sleeping Beauty' (though I was most likely roused by the morning sun). The bathroom boasted water pressure strong enough to almost surf, turning a simple shower into a mini-vacation by Dian Lake. But the absolute highlight was breakfast: freshly prepared Cross-Bridge Noodles and Flower Pastries, and even the soy milk carried that unique Yunnan sweetness. I nearly turned the hotel into my personal canteen! The gentleman at the front desk had a smile as bright and inviting as Kunming's weather. Upon check-out, he even surprised me with a packet of Pu'er tea as a thoughtful souvenir. This gesture alone instantly made me a loyal fan! Next time I'm in Kunming, my feet will undoubtedly find their way back here automatically. After all, who could bear to leave this 'happy haven' where the entire city feels effortlessly at your fingertips?"

"Born in 1999, I've always had a special affinity for turn-of-the-millennium architecture. These grand, classic structures, embodying bold visions of the future, also exude a 'dreamcore'-like surreal atmosphere that perfectly aligned with all my childhood aspirations for big cities. The Kunming Grand Park Hotel also opened its doors in 1999. While its facilities might show the passage of time, it still retains an old-world elegance and style. I particularly enjoyed the slow-moving, retro-decorated elevator; each ride felt like a brief journey through time. Walking through the corridors, it was as if time had gently receded, transporting me back to the atmosphere of the early 2000s. I often found myself standing by the window, gazing out at the city's evolving skyline in the distance. I couldn't help but wonder: What would the person who stayed in this very room twenty years ago have been like? Did they also stand by this same window, gazing at the sky and street views of their time, filled with anticipation or uncertainty about the future? It felt as if a thin membrane of time separated us, invisible to each other, yet sharing the exact same view in that moment. I loved it here so much; it felt like opening a window to another time. Yet, as night fell, the clearer that atmosphere from the past became, the more it evoked a gentle melancholy—like a grand, yet now untouchable, old dream. And precisely for this reason, I know I will certainly return."

"It had been 20 years since I last visited Kunming — I was just 7 years old back then. This time, I came back for something truly special: to propose to my girlfriend on Qixi Festival, China’s Valentine’s Day. Given how much this moment meant to me, I wanted everything to be perfect. That’s why I chose the Grand Hyatt Kunming, a brand I’ve always trusted, and booked a Deluxe King Room with Club Access for August 28–30. The first night started well. We stayed on the 26th floor — even though the room was near the elevator, it was surprisingly quiet, and the layout and lighting made it feel warm and comfortable. Everything was off to a good start. But things took a turn the next day — the actual day of the proposal, August 29 — a day I had been planning for a long time. We were given a room on the 24th floor, and from the moment we walked in, I could tell something was off. The layout felt awkward, and the room was noticeably warmer than the night before. I turned on the air conditioning, but it didn’t seem strong enough. I even checked with the hotel staff that afternoon and was told the room was “standard size.” After the proposal (which thankfully went beautifully!), my fiancée and I left the room around 9:00 PM for dinner. Before leaving, we set the AC to 16°C, hoping we’d come back to a cool and comfortable space. But when we returned around 11:30 PM, the room temperature hadn’t improved at all. It was still stuffy, and the bathroom was even worse — no proper ventilation, just heat and humidity. We called the front desk, and two technicians came up. After checking everything, they told us the room was “normal.” I asked if we could switch rooms, but the request was brushed off. They just told us to wait — that it would eventually cool down. By then it was already 2:00 AM. Both of us were completely exhausted and had no energy left to argue. We tried to sleep. But at 8:30 AM, I woke up drenched in sweat — the room still hadn’t cooled down. Honestly, I’m heartbroken by this experience. This day was supposed to be one of the most memorable and romantic nights of our lives. And now, while we will remember it, it’s for the wrong reasons. I never imagined that a stay at a Grand Hyatt, in a room I paid extra for (with Club Access and “Deluxe” in the name), would turn out to be so disappointing. I didn’t come here expecting perfection. But I did expect basic comfort, and at the very least, a response from staff that showed they understood how important this stay was for us. Sadly, that didn’t happen."

"The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kunming Railway Station. The staff were incredibly professional, warm, and accommodating, always ready to assist with any request. They can also arrange for a non-smoking floor. Rooms are designed with a classic, elegant ambiance, ensuring fresh air and a peaceful, undisturbed stay. The in-room projector provides free access to VIP movies. Overall, a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!"
