Time: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM EDT
Location: Mooney's Bay
Get ready, Ottawa, to unleash your competitive spirit for an incredible cause at the Rage Theater Ball! This event is all about channeling your energy into a powerful fight against cancer. It's not about anger; it's about RAGING AGAINST CANCER!
The Rage Theater Ball is a non-profit event, and we're proud to announce that all leftover proceeds will be directly donated to vital cancer research initiatives. Your participation directly supports the search for breakthroughs that can save lives and bring hope to countless individuals and families.
Tetherball Tournament: Go Head-to-Head for a Cause!
The heart of the Rage Theater Ball is our exhilarating Tetherball Tournament! We're setting up multiple courts for non-stop action, with divisions for both men and women.
How the Tournament Works:
This isn't your average game of tetherball. We'll be running Round Robin sessions where the goal is to build the longest winning streak. Win a match, and you keep playing the next opponent. The player with the most consecutive wins in their division will be crowned the champion!
Tie-Breaking Procedure:
If there's a tie in consecutive wins, we'll look at the total number of individual matches won. If it's still a tie, get ready for a sudden-death playoff match between the tied players to determine who advances!
Unleash Your Energy with Live Music!
Between matches or when you need a break, immerse yourself in our live music jam session! We'll have a playing area set up for local musicians to share their talents, creating an electrifying atmosphere for everyone. Whether you want to listen, dance, or just soak in the good vibes, the music will keep the energy high all day long.
Win Prizes & Bragging Rights!
The champions of the Men's and Women's Tetherball Tournament will not only earn ultimate bragging rights but also receive a grand prize, including free entry to next year's Rage Theater Ball!
Why You Should Be There:
* Make an Impact: Every swing and every note helps fund crucial cancer research.
* Active Fun: Enjoy a unique, active, and competitive day outdoors.
* Great Music: Discover local talent and enjoy a fantastic live soundtrack.
* Community Connection: Connect with others in Ottawa who are passionate about giving back.
* Dedicate Your Rage: Participate in honor or memory of someone affected by cancer.

Tour of the Gully Restoration at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden | Fletcher Wildlife Garden
Aug 9, 2025 (UTC-4)
Ottawa
In 2015, the FWG gully, visible from Prince of Wales Drive, was full of comfrey mixed with dog-strangling vine. That first summer, a few of these very invasive species were replaced with patches of Joe Pye Weed and Swamp Milkweed. Each year, more invasives were removed and more native wildflowers that like moist soil were planted: Swamp Aster, Culver’s Root, Flat-topped Aster, Blue Flag Iris, Cardinal Flower, Bottle Gentian, and many more.
Now that most of the comfrey and DSV is gone, we can see that the gully and its slopes offer various habitats, both sunny and shady and wet to dry. This has allowed volunteers to expand the variety of species that were planted. As the biodiversity of plants has increased, so has the variety of animal life: butterflies, bees, frogs, snakes, hummingbirds, and so on.
Ten years on, the gully continues to be a haven for monarchs.
Bee researcher Lydia Wong will be on hand to identify pollinators and explain their needs and habits.
Meet at the main parking area beside the baseball diamond.

Ottawa
Come party! Empress Effects is celebrating 20 years of sonic innovation—and you’re invited.
Hosted at Ottawa’s historic and iconic Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts, this all-day music and gear event combines a 20th anniversary party, pedal and guitar expo, and live music performances to bring you the world’s first Music Festiversary (“Musexpedal Festiversguitary” didn’t have the same ring to it, but you get the gist).
Meet over 25 pedal and guitar makers from around the world and try out their incredible products in our interactive showroom. Catch live performances by Menno Versteeg (with members of Hollerado), Boyhood, Tyler Larson (Music is Win), True Cuckoo, Ottawa’s own F8-bit, and Andy Pitcher. with prizes. From pedals and shirts to plushies and surprise gear, you never know what you’ll walk away with… but it’s gonna be good.
Empress’ Art Installation
We’ve teamed up with Montreal artist and musician Amery Sandford to create a one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory art installation. Each station pairs an original poster by Amery with a curated set of Empress pedals and a ZOIA running a unique loop. As you explore, you can interact with the pedals to shape and transform the sound in real time—meaning the music of the Festiversary is, quite literally, in your hands. It’s part art show, part pedal demo, part living soundtrack.

Safe Dating:
It is crucial to be cautious when setting up in-person dates or meetings.
1. Don't set up dates too quickly
It's normal to chat and have some back and forth before deciding if a date is in the cards. If the person wants to meet you immediately that is a RED FLAG.
2. Meet up in a public place for the first time
It's a wise decision to choose a busy public location for your first date. Meet at a pub, coffee shop, restaurant, and/or busy park. This allows a secure setting for both of you.
3. Always arrange your transportation for the initial date
Always meet your date in a public place. Never, ever let them pick you up or drop you off on your first few dates. Even if they offer to pick you up or drop you off, say "no thanks" until you trust them! Remember the old saying stranger DANGER.
4. Tell someone you trust that you have a date
Never go on a date/meet-up without telling someone. This should always be your no. 1 safety rule when meeting people for the first time. Let a friend or family member know that they should expect to hear from you at a certain time. You can also let them know where you're going on the date. It’s also a smart idea to have a ‘safe word’ or ‘safe phrase’, to use, just in case you need to make a quick exit.
5. Think before exchanging numbers
Do not forget that you are under no need to share phone numbers if you feel uncomfortable. It’s OK to schedule dates and converse only through a safe app until you feel ready to give out your phone number. Always take your time when disclosing contact information since your privacy is crucial.
6. ALWAYS Trust your instincts
If you sense any discomfort or uneasy vibes while conversing, or planning a date in person, don't hesitate to leave immediately and exit the situation. Your well-being always comes first, and it's perfectly fine to step away if something doesn't feel right. Let your friend or family member know
