‘Necks and the City is about two salt-of-the-earth Americans from the southwest who - true to their pioneering roots - grew tired of the comforts and constraints of home and decided to venture out into the world. They eventually found themselves in Europe (Carly in Amsterdam, Ben in Vilnius), only to discover that for every exciting new experience one has in a foreign country, every moment of personal growth, there are also moments of homesickness, frustration, and downright bafflement at the way y’all do things over here. Fortunately, they have a sense of humor about it, and have accumulated many entertaining tales and offbeat insights along the way! About the comedians: Carly Blair is a not-your-typical-American American from Arizona who's been trying to shove her square peg-shaped self into Amsterdam's round hole with admirable, or perhaps foolish, persistence for the last 15 years. Her brainy and bawdy jokes cover a broad range of topics, but are always deeply rooted in her personal experience. She's performed in the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, France, Portugal, and Bulgaria, and was long-listed in the 2023 Funny Women competition. Benjamin McWilliams hails from New Mexico and grew up in Texas. He spent five years living in China and hitchhiked across the world before ending up in his current home of Vilnius, Lithuania, where he is helping build the English language comedy scene from the ground up. Ben entertains audiences with tales of his travel-related misadventures and the struggles he faces in the Baltics, such as navigating local bureaucracy, mastering the Lithuanian language, and teaching the famously reserved locals how to smile.
