Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine, located on Otokoyama in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, is one of the three major Hachimangu Shrines in Japan and is affectionately known locally as "Yawata no Hachiman-san." Every year on September 15th, the Iwashimizu Festival (a prestigious festival to which an imperial envoy is dispatched as an envoy of the emperor) is held, and it is counted as one of the three major imperial festivals along with the Aoi Festival and Kasuga Festival.
