Wenchang Hilton, the only 5-star hotel in Wenchang with a resort feel

Second stop on the round-the-island tour, Wenchang—Wenchang Hilton Compared to other places in Hainan, Wenchang has very few hotel options. If you need a hotel with both a resort feel and kid-friendly facilities, Wenchang Hilton is probably the only choice for most people! Let's start with the pre-arrival experience. The hotel called in advance to arrange a room upgrade and prepared a crib and baby supplies. Upon arrival, the doorman quickly helped us with our luggage and the check-in process took less than five minutes. Then, someone escorted us to our room with our luggage! When we checked out, the doorman also helped us with our luggage. We didn't have to lift a finger! Room Experience - Executive Ocean View Room The view from the room in good weather is simply breathtaking. You can see the gardens, distant coconut groves, beach, and sea all at once! Regarding room facilities, each balcony is equipped with a clothes rack, there is a refrigerator in the room (but it's empty), and the bathtub is quite comfortable, although the water pressure is very low. It takes at least 30-40 minutes to fill it up enough for a bath. The bedding is quite comfortable. The hotel hasn't been open for long, but because it's by the sea, some items look a bit old due to sea breeze corrosion, but they still feel good to use! Common Area Experience - The scenery is stunning. From the moment you enter the lobby, you feel like at least half the room rate is worth it. However, due to typhoon damage, many areas haven't fully recovered and are undergoing repairs. None of the outdoor pools were open (the indoor one was open). The Chinese restaurant has been merged with the all-day dining restaurant, where you can enjoy a buffet or order à la carte. The hotel doesn't have a private beach, but you can walk to the public beach below in about five minutes. The beach there is quite lively and the water is very clear, but the walk back to the hotel is uphill, which is a bit difficult. The best thing about this hotel is that you can watch rocket launches from the hotel (or from the beach below). Dining Experience Dinner Buffet: We happened to be there on a weekend when the restaurant had a dinner buffet (hot pot buffet during this season). The hot pot selection wasn't extensive, but the quality of each item was very high. Both the chicken and marinated beef were surprisingly good, and the prawns were as big as your palm. We ordered two broths: clear soup and Sichuan spicy, both of which were authentic. The desserts were the highlight of the dinner. The cakes were light, sweet, but not greasy. If I wasn't watching my sugar intake, I could have easily devoured half of them! The worst part of the buffet was probably the drinks. The Sprite and Coke were served from large bottles and were completely flat, like drinking sugar water. Using smaller cans would have been much better. Only one type of beer was available. Breakfast: Compared to most 5-star hotel breakfasts, the selection was a bit limited. The only standout was the noodle station. It's hard to go wrong with noodles! The soy milk was one of the best I've had in a hotel, but it was already sweetened, so it wasn't ideal for those who prefer it unsweetened. The food was replenished promptly, and although the restaurant didn't have assigned seating, the staff were very responsive to guests' needs. Conclusion: If it weren't for watching the rocket launch, which pushed the room rate over a thousand, the usual price of around five hundred is very good value. The hotel offers standard 5-star service, a nearby beach, and stunning views from the room. It's worth it!
