Tottori Castle Ruins

#HotPlacesInJapan Tottori Castle is a Japanese castle from the Sengoku period to the Edo period, located in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture. Also known as Hisamatsu Castle and Hisamatsuyama Castle, it was built in 1545 by Yamana Masamichi of the Inu clan as a branch castle of Tenjinyama Castle, which was his base, on Hisamatsuyama. Later, when Ikeda Nagayoshi became the lord of the castle, it underwent major renovations, and the scenery of the ruins of Tottori Castle that remains today was created during that major renovation. In 1692, the castle tower was burned down by lightning.
