From Tottori Station, you can take the Hinomaru Bus and get off at Nishimachi Station to reach the Tottori Castle Ruins and Jinpukaku in Tottori City. During the Sengoku period, Hideyoshi fought against Mōri Terumoto at Tottori Castle, engaging in fierce battles with Kikkawa Tsuneie. In the end, Kikkawa, unable to wait for Mōri Terumoto's reinforcements, committed seppuku. In 1873, under the castle abolition order, most of the unnecessary buildings of Tottori Castle were dismantled in 1877, leaving only the tenshudai (main keep platform) and stone walls. Admission to the castle is free, and at the entrance, there is a sign warning of bear sightings 😅... Jinpukaku is located next to Tottori Castle. This building is a Western-style structure from the Meiji era, serving as the temporary palace for Crown Prince Yoshihito during his visit in 1907. It was also the separate residence of Marquis Ikeda Nakahiro, the lord of Tottori Domain. Now, it is a historical site open to visitors.
