Sengakuji Temple

#trip2023 Sengaku-ji is a temple of the Soto sect. There are two head temples of the Soto sect, one is Eihei-ji in Fukui Prefecture, which was founded by Zen Master Dogen, and the other is Soji-ji in Tsurumi, Yokohama. Zen Master Dogen's main work is a 95-volume book called "Shobogenzo," which expresses the essence of Buddhism. Now, Sengaku-ji is a temple that Tokugawa Ieyasu founded in Sotosakurada (near the current Metropolitan Police Department) in 1612, when he invited the monk Monan Sokan (grandson of Imagawa Yoshimoto) to be his priest.
