Plum blossoms associated with the Ako Gishi at Sengaku-ji Temple

"Sengaku-ji" is a Soto Zen temple famous for being the graveyard of the Ako Gishi. There are plum trees associated with the Ako Gishi, so a visit in the spring is recommended. There are plum trees such as the "Chikara Plum Tree" that was planted at the Mita residence of Matsudaira Oki no Kami, where Oishi Kazura committed seppuku; the "Yochi Plum Tree" which was transplanted from a potted plum tree given to Horibe Myokai-honi, who was the caretaker of the grave of the samurai, by Yozen-in; and the "Blood-stained Plum Tree" which is said to have been splashed with the blood of Asano Takumi-no-kami when he committed seppuku in the garden of Tamura Ukyo-dayu's residence.
