Maijishan Grottoes is not recommended for visits during long holidays.

Located in the suburbs of Tianshui, more than an hour by high-speed rail from Lanzhou, it is the only one of the four major grottoes in China that has not been looted and destroyed by foreign invaders. It fully records the clay sculpture art style and development history of the Northern Dynasties, reflecting the fusion and collision of foreign Buddhist art and local culture. The West Cliff Buddha was originally built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, including the three statues of the Medicine King, of which most of the left side Bodhisattva has fallen off except for the skirt. The East Cliff Buddha was excavated in the Sui Dynasty and is the largest existing stone clay sculpture statue in Maijishan, which can be photographed from multiple angles. The climbing process of Maijishan requires going up and down the narrow stairs built along the mountain. If you do not visit the special caves, it takes about 2 hours, and those who are afraid of heights have certain adverse reactions. Opposite is the western vein of the Qinling Mountains, which is still green in early autumn, and the two mountains echo each other. It is not recommended to go to Maijishan during the peak tourist season and long holidays. Often encounter the situation where the queue time to climb the mountain exceeds the visit time, and sometimes you can't book the tickets for the day, which can easily bring a bad travel experience to tourists.
