A historical art museum that was formerly a Meiji-era courthouse.

The Sasayama Courthouse was in use from 1870 to 1981. At the time, it was one of the oldest wooden courthouses in Japan, and was designated a town cultural asset in 1982 as an important building. The reception staff gave us a fun and friendly explanation. Many valuable documents and artworks are on display inside the building, and the courtroom is a place where you can get a glimpse of what trials were like back then, and you can even sit in the judge's seat.
