Baoan Temple, with a history of over 200 years, has undergone five major renovations. In 1917, to achieve the best restoration results, renowned craftsmen Chen Yingbin and Guo Ta were invited to compete. Baoan Temple was divided into two parts, each assigned its own master craftsman to perform the restoration, utilizing their most familiar techniques. As a result, the left and right sides of the main hall now boast distinct appearances, a significant topic of discussion at the time. In 1995, Baoan Temple was again in need of restoration. This time, nearly 200 million yuan was raised. Utilizing traditional techniques and modern technology, the restoration took nearly seven years to complete. This restoration, employing European methods for restoring church murals, showcased the best of East-West exchange.
