#MarchGoodPlaces2025 Siena Town Hall is located in Piazza Conchiglia in the center of Siena. This building, built in 1297, is a perfect fusion of Gothic style and medieval architectural art. Its exterior is a model of Italian medieval architecture. The ground floor is built with solid stone, while the upper floor is made of brick structure, showing a unique sense of layering. The main facade of the City Hall is slightly concave, cleverly fitting in with the shape of the Shell Square, becoming an unignorable focal point of the square. Particularly eye-catching is the Mangia Tower, which was built between 1325 and 1344, carefully designed by the famous painter Lippo Memmi and made of machine-made red bricks. The tower was designed to surpass its nearby competitor, the tower in Florence, thus becoming the tallest building in Italy at the time. Today, the Torre Mangia still stands, attracting countless tourists to climb up and overlook the magnificent view of the ancient city of Siena.
