Entering the Siena Town Hall: A Convergence of History and Art

The Siena Town Hall is the most prominent building on the Piazza del Campo, especially its bell tower, which soars into the clouds and is quite spectacular. The Town Hall was built between 1297 and 1310, with the central body having four floors and the wings having three floors each. The ground floor features a series of arches, a mix of brick and stone, and the windows are in the typical style of medieval Siena. In the center of the fourth floor, there is a huge religious emblem that dates back to 1425. Below it is the coat of arms of the Medici family, which was added in 1560. Part of the building's interior serves as the Siena municipal administration, while another part is a city museum, open to the public.
