The Suwa Taisha Shimosha Harumiya Gemabashi Bridge, said to have been built in the Muromachi period, is the oldest building in the Shimosha, having been renovated in the 1730s. The name Gemabashi comes from the fact that in the past, when worshipping at Harumiya, people had to dismount and get off their horses here, and even feudal lords had to get off their palanquins or horses. Because of its shape, it is also called Taikobashi Bridge locally. Even today, only the portable shrines in the procession for the twice-yearly enshrinement festival can cross this bridge. The Gemabashi Bridge, located in the middle of the road in front of the Suwa Taisha Shimosha Harumiya, is a very rare tourist attraction.
