Suwa Taisha, said to be one of the oldest shrines in Japan, is the head shrine of the 25,000 Suwa shrines in Japan. Suwa Taisha, the first shrine in Shinano Province, is made up of two shrines and four shrines. Two shrines: Kamisha and Shimosha Four shrines: Honmiya, Maemiya, Akimiya, and Harumiya (Kamisha is Honmiya and Maemiya / Shimosha is Akimiya and Harumiya) Shimosuwa Town is home to Shimosha (two shrines: Akimiya and Harumiya). Akimiya is about a 20-minute walk from Harumiya. Like Harumiya, the Onbashira Festival pillars are erected at the four corners of the shrine building.
