A Staple Italian Restaurant in Shanghai

La Petite Fontaine is an established Italian restaurant in Shanghai that’s been around for a while already. The space stands out as it’s full of antiques and vintage decorations. One of the first things you’ll notice is that the tables are nicely spaced apart which cuts down on the feeling of overcrowding that you’ve probably experienced at other popular restaurants in the city. Topped with plaid and floral tablecloths, tables are also often decorated with fresh flowers. The restaurant is spread throughout several different rooms. With an antique piano, chandeliers, and countless framed photos, some may consider the space a bit cluttered, but to others, it just adds to the charm. You won’t easily find another space like this anywhere in Shanghai. While the space was certainly a highlight of our visit, the main thing that attracted us here was the food. If you’re dining as a couple, we recommend trying one of the main courses designed for sharing, like the surf and turf set or the paella for two which includes an entire lobster. There are also set menus which include an appetizer, main, drink, and dessert. Other reliable picks are the steak as well as the lobster pasta. For dessert, we went for the molten lava cake.
