Staying at Shangri-La Hotel during the rainy season, enjoying the clear view of Qiantan after the rain

Shanghai’s plum rain season is really damp, so I gave myself a short break and “sheltered from the rain” for two days at Shangri-La Qiantan, unexpectedly gaining a peaceful and beautiful city experience. 🏙 The location is really convenient. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the door to the Oriental Sports Center Metro Station, making it easy to get anywhere. Right next to it is Taikoo Li, where you can eat, play, and shop all in one place—just cross the street downstairs and it’s done, no hassle even on rainy days. 🏠 The hotel lobby is quite interesting, not the kind of cold luxury you see at first glance. There’s a super shiny glass tree lamp and a vintage elevator; the style is a bit eclectic but very tasteful, detail lovers will like it. 🌊 The full floor-to-ceiling window in the river view room is truly stunning. Sunlight pours in during the day, and at night you can lie in bed watching the brightly lit Qiantan, not wanting to draw the curtains at all. 🛏 The room is in a soft cream yellow tone, very gentle, with some copper accents that don’t lose quality. The bed is the soft type I like, and you can choose pillow firmness. The control panel on the wall is thoughtfully designed, a blessing for the lazy. The carpet feels very comfortable underfoot, walking around is never empty or cold. 🍜 The breakfast has a wide variety, a blend of East and West. The freshly made small wontons and hot congee unexpectedly became my favorite combo; the congee is cooked to a perfect creamy texture. The fruit is fresh, and the replenishment is quick, so no worries about waking up late and missing out. 🍽 For dinner, I went to the 7th-floor Chinese restaurant “Xiang Ju Jiang Nan Zao.” The atmosphere is great, like stepping into a Jiangnan ink painting. The dishes are on the lighter side but not bland; each one is so exquisite it looks like a work of art, tasting fresh and not greasy.
