Shanghai Yong Hotel Recently went on a business trip to Shanghai and accidentally stayed at Yong Hotel. I originally thought it was just an ordinary place to stay, but it totally won me over! This place isn’t just a hotel; it’s an art palace hidden in the city center! 📍Heart of the Magic City, super convenient access The hotel is located at 366 Shimen 1st Road, Jing’an District, right in the city center’s prime spot! Right downstairs is Taikoo Hui, where you can shop till your feet hurt at GUCCI, LV, and other luxury brands, plus no need to queue at the trendy milk tea shops. It’s a 10-minute walk to Nanjing West Road Station on Metro Line 2, and taxis to the Bund or Lujiazui start at the base fare 🚖 The best surprise is how close it is to the artsy neighborhoods of Zhangyuan and Fengshengli, where you can take a morning stroll to enjoy locals’ favorite pan-fried buns. 🏛️A perfect blend of old Shanghai and modern vibes The moment you enter the lobby, you’ll be amazed! The high-ceiling space features a spiral staircase winding upwards, walls decorated with bamboo weave textures and warm lighting creating a bamboo forest shadow effect, and vintage copper chandeliers adding old Shanghai charm. When checking in, staff serve you freshly brewed ginger tea, its sweet and refreshing taste instantly chasing away the winter chill ☕️ The lobby corners also hide artist-customized installations, perfect for snapping beautiful photos from every angle. 🛋️Stay in a gentle “urban oasis” I booked a suite, and the moment I opened the door, it was healing! The whole room features natural wood flooring with off-white walls, a traditional ink-style abstract painting above the bed, and even the sofa cushions are hand-embroidered with Jiangnan patterns. The highlight is the bathroom, with a huge round bathtub facing the floor-to-ceiling window. Soaking at night while watching the bustling traffic on Nanjing West Road, paired with the hotel’s complimentary scented candle, creates an incredible sense of ritual 🛁 The minibar even has local Shanghai osmanthus wine; having a glass before bed for a gentle buzz is super relaxing. 🍴Delicacy and down-to-earth flavors on the palate The hotel’s Suitangli restaurant deserves praise! For breakfast, I ordered a bowl of local-style Yangchun noodles, with thin noodles soaked in rich scallion oil aroma, paired with a soft-boiled egg that oozes yolk when bitten, and I never got tired of it even after three days. For dinner, I tried the Calypso Mediterranean restaurant, awarded one Black Pearl, where the grilled octopus tentacles were tender and chewy, and the accompanying hummus had a unique flavor. Before leaving, I bought freshly baked butterfly pastries at the lobby bar, so flaky they crumble—perfect as souvenirs! 📌Check-in tips Recommend choosing a high-floor room for an amazing night view! On clear days, you can even see the Oriental Pearl Tower in the distance. The hotel offers free flower arrangement and coffee latte art classes every Wednesday and Friday, and even beginners have a great time. The %Arabica coffee shop downstairs in Taikoo Hui has window seats where you can photograph the hotel’s iconic spiral staircase. Within 500 meters on Weihai Road, there are many hidden gem shops; I recommend visiting “O.P.S. CAFE” for seasonal limited coffee. This stay completely changed my impression of business hotels.
