Shanghai Waigaoqiao Sheraton Hotel personally tested 💰 Average cost per person Original price was 424 RMB 🏘️ Room type/layout The app showed an upgrade to a deluxe suite before check-in, which was a pleasant surprise! The room size is much larger than a standard room, which you can clearly feel from the size of the sofa and coffee table. However, the room is quite old, and the decor style is more traditional and old-money, which might not suit the younger generation’s aesthetic. The sofa looks a bit unclean due to its color and worn appearance, but the wooden furniture is well maintained. Upon entering the room, there is a special scent that might make some people uncomfortable. 🛌 Amenities/facilities The room facilities are generally old but have all the basic necessities. When requesting a latex pillow from housekeeping, the wait time was quite long. After the first request, it took three to four hours without delivery, and only after a second reminder was it brought, so efficiency needs improvement. 🧹 Soundproofing/cleanliness The room’s cleanliness is generally okay, with well-maintained wooden furniture, but the sofa gives a somewhat unclean visual impression. Soundproofing is average, nothing particularly outstanding. 💗 Other tips 1. Service experience: Service was average, with nothing particularly impressive or disappointing. The concierge saw the car but took a while before helping unload the luggage. The lounge happy hour service was good, with many staff, quick dish changes, and constant attention to guests and food. 2. Lounge experience: Dinner included six hot dishes plus fried items, cakes, fruits, etc. There were few diners, so the experience was good. Hot dishes included shredded potatoes, pork wrapped in tripe, Nanjing duck, pancakes, and more. However, the salad and cold dish area was average and might not suit foreign guests’ tastes. Afternoon tea was on the first floor, with only a few types of frozen cakes and unsweetened fruit, making for a poor experience. Afternoon tea and dinner were held in separate venues, and the first floor had no air conditioning, making it very cold. Feedback was given to the hotel at checkout, hoping for improvements. 3. Breakfast experience: Breakfast was in the same venue as afternoon tea. The restaurant was large but had limited food choices. On top of the afternoon tea offerings, there were hot dishes, cold dishes, and hot drinks, but the actual selection was limited. In the end, I filled up with a bowl of noodles, possibly because the lack of air conditioning made it too cold to eat well.
