Anting Old Street, located at the junction of Shanghai's Jiading District and Suzhou, has a long history and rich cultural heritage. Historical records state, 'A pavilion every ten li, named An Pavilion, and the town was named after the pavilion.' Thus, Anting Town got its name. Anting Old Street has been a place of abundant resources and bustling commerce since ancient times. The Anting River flows from north to south, with streets on both sides of the river. The street stretches about one li from north to south, centered around Bodhi Temple, Yong'an Tower, and Yan Si Bridge. It is an old street with the style of a water town in Jiangnan. The street retains the 'road-bridge-street' layout typical of Jiangnan water towns. The architecture of the old street is restrained yet dignified, exuding the charm of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Strolling along the old street, you can visit the Bodhi Temple, a millennium-old temple originally built during the Three Kingdoms period (Wu) and rebuilt in the 1990s, known as 'Shanghai's First Temple.' To the east of the temple, across the Anting River, there was an ancient tower named Yong'an Tower, which has now been rebuilt. The new Yong'an Tower is six-sided and nine-storied, standing 56.88 meters tall with a spire over ten meters high, made of gold-plated brass.
