on a hiatus

It has to be Shanghai! Surprisingly, this boutique hotel hides the charm of an old alleyway.

I took a trip to Shanghai in early winter and almost missed the excitement of the fourth Shangri-La hotel! This one is located in the Bund area, offering a true mix of tranquility and liveliness in the magical city at night. I thought it would be a simple replica, just a place to stay peacefully... But I was surprised to find that the design of this Shangri-La hotel incorporates a lot of the cultural heritage of old Shanghai's alleyways! They really put their heart into it! It is said that the entire hotel is conceived as an old Shanghai shikumen community~ You will discover that the public areas are connected by "courtyards" and "alleyways" Magnolia flowers, shikumen window frames, vintage red brick walls... Interesting details are hidden in every corner of the hotel 😌 The resting area facing the front desk is transformed into an elegant study... Carefully displaying many old objects from Shanghai, cameras, musical instruments, antiques... Even if you are waiting for someone or working on your laptop 💻, it doesn't feel boring! The rooms have spacious and bright floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the Sports Center and Taikoo Li‼️ And the vast view of the river... It's right on the Bund! Having such a view is truly refreshing‼️ I've also had afternoon tea in many hotel lobbies🫖, always just for the sake of taking photos. But the afternoon tea here is really delicious 😋 The flavors change, it's not overly sweet, and I even had a heartwarming white pear stew🍐, which is so comforting in winter❄️[Strong] The gym... it's really well-equipped and trendy! Various strength training equipment! Crossfit! Boxing ring! Swimming pool! They are all so appealing... Although I was pressed for time, I couldn't help but go for a run~ Every time I come to Shangri-La, it really revitalizes my exhausted body and mind‼️ I remember spending a little less on electronic music festivals and consoling my younger brother, saying, "We don't lack the experience of staying in high-end hotels, what we lack is the joy of being together." When I got tired of the same old high-end hotels... What kind of hotel can still attract you? Today, I finally have an answer... 📍Shangri-La Hotel, the Bund, Shanghai. #thingstodoshanghai
