The house that inspired the movie “UP”!

Sunny Sunday in Seattle! Walked from festive Fremont to Ballard, where we saw the actual house that inspired the animated film “Up”! From the balloons hung on the fence, this is clearly a landmark in Ballard. A certain Edith Macefield had turned down USD$1 million that was offered for her house which was to make way for a commercial property. They ended up constructing around her 116 year-old house. True story! Interestingly, Ballard is a neighborhood built on shipping and Scandinavian culture, where the buildings are still reminiscent of a bygone era. #ballard #fremont #seattle #up
