Yaxi Village Earth Fort, Quannan, Jiangxi

Yaxi Earth Fort is called "Fuxing Fort" and was built by Chen Shoushuo, Chen Shouying, and two other uncles and nephews from the Yafeng Village Group of Yaxi Village in the 6th year of the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1856) and completed in the 8th year of the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1858). The fort faces east and west, and the walls are made of rammed earth. The entire fort is 29.80 meters long, 20.20 meters wide, and 10.40 meters high, covering an area of 600 square meters. The earth fort is rectangular and made of adobe bricks. It is three stories high, with 17 rooms on each floor, and the second and third floors have corridors. The fort has four cannon corners, and along the central axis of the fort from south to north are the gate, the gatehouse, the entrance hall, the corridor, the patio, the corridor, and the hall. The patio is tall and narrow, and there are inner corridors above the second floor. The design is compact. The gate has two layers, with a water irrigation device on top to prevent fire attacks from enemies. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Jiangxi Province.
