Exploring Ulanhada, staying in a volcanic homestay!

The sky over Ulanhada is so blue it’s intoxicating, the clouds as soft as cotton candy, and beneath our feet lies a land with hidden volcanic relics, each step tracing the marks of time. This time, we brought along Nian Gao and the whole family to the Youranju Volcanic Homestay, experiencing an unforgettable family trip. 🐾✨ 🏠 Cozy corner of the family room 🏡 As soon as we entered the room, we were surrounded by a feeling of home. The large bed was spacious and comfortable, perfect for a tired family to rest. Even more surprising was a special little corner designed just for kids, with a small table, little chairs, and even a cozy nook for Nian Gao. These details made us feel that this place was not just a stop on our journey, but another warm home. 🌟 🏞️ Volcanic scenery, all in view 🌋 Opening the window, the view was breathtaking—the distant volcano lay quietly, as if telling ancient stories. Waking up in the morning, the first ray of sunlight filtered through the curtains onto our faces, and the occasional bird song from afar made time seem to stand still. Taking Nian Gao, we strolled along the volcanic stone paths around the homestay, each step filled with the joy of exploration. 🚶‍♀️🌱 *KTV and game room, endless fun 🎉* After dinner, the family gathered together and chose KTV and the game room for entertainment. Nian Gao watched curiously from the side, occasionally letting out a few soft barks, making everyone laugh. Here, both adults and children can find their own fun, and this family interaction made us feel the warmth of home. 🎶🎲 🍽️ Culinary journey, a feast for the taste buds 🍴 The lamb buns at breakfast were tender and juicy, paired with the homemade chili sauce from the host—simply delicious. Watching the kids eat with such relish warmed our hearts. Besides breakfast, the dinners here were also very rich, especially the dishes cooked with local ingredients, each bite an exquisite temptation for the palate. 😋 This trip not only relaxed our body and mind but, more importantly, deepened the emotional bonds within our family. Nian Gao also became livelier and more cheerful during this time, making good friends with new kids and their pet dogs. At Youranju Volcanic Homestay, we gained so many wonderful memories and hope to have the chance to come back here next time to continue our adventure. 🌈

Wulanhada Volcano Geopark

#wulanhada Wulanhada volcano geopark. Wow! This place really amazes me with these extinct volcanoes in the middle of the grasslands. One would probably expect horses and many other animals in this area. If you are an outdoor person, this is a wonderful place to be close to nature and animals. The peaks of the volcanos are easy to hike and not challenging But always safety first and watch your footing. Highly recommend to visit a day or two at this park.

Wulanhada Volcano Geopark

#adventuremoments 🥾 Hiking Hints – Wulanhada Volcano Park Day 1 – Main Volcano Exploration • Climb Wulanhada Volcano (No. 3) – the largest crater, with a clear circular rim and wide views. The hike is short (30–40 minutes) but steep in places. • Walk around the crater rim – safe but windy, so watch your footing. Great for photos of the lava landscape. • Explore lava fields – black lava rocks and unique formations nearby make it feel otherworldly. Day 2 (optional) – Smaller Volcanic Cones • Visit Volcano No. 1 and No. 2 for quieter hikes and fewer people. • Try sunrise or sunset for dramatic colors over the grasslands. 🌍 Travel Tips • Getting there: The park is about 60 km from Ulanqab city. No public transport, so hire a driver, rent a car, or join a tour. • Gear: Wear sturdy shoes (lava rocks are sharp). Bring water and snacks — no shops inside. • Best time: Summer and autumn for clear skies; spring can be windy and dusty. • Time needed: Half-day for the main crater, full day to explore all cones. • Stay: Base yourself in Ulanqab city; hotels are limited near the park.
