Pongyang Trail 100 km, Chiang Mai Province

Pong Yaeng Trail, 111.7 km. Actual run: 115 km, cumulative elevation gain: 5,646 m. Time: 30 hours, 56 minutes START > KONG HAE, Kong Hae, First Half: 55.7 km. Initially, we intended not to use poles because we weren't used to them and found them annoying (if we knew how to use them, it would be great). The single-track trail made it even more difficult to use. Plus, we were rushing to make time for the first half. It turned out to be a good decision, even though the Phan Nok Kok forest trail to Doi Pui campground was very steep. Honestly, I wasn't really afraid of the steep slopes, but I was afraid of the descents. For example, the Mae Sa Mai to Kong Hae section was a long descent, and I was worried about whether I'd break down or if ITB would come. We used a skill by going down backwards. Did it help? I think it did. At least it helped, and it gave my knees some relief. It's suitable for those who are proficient. (Back then, I did everything. The second 100km distance, I couldn't do a DNF, and I had to keep my coach in mind.) Great! My thoughts: One thing I was worried about when I came back for a rematch Will we reach last year's DNF distance? 70 km. At that time, we reached Mae Khanil Nuea. I had ITB injuries in both legs. This year, at first, I tried to go up as fast as I could and go down as slowly as I could. When we reached the campsite around 7:15 PM, I felt a bit more confident, because last year, we arrived at 8:30 PM. KONG HAE > FINISH! After leaving the campsite, I couldn't remember what the route was like. I only remember that the Pha Nok Kok forest trail we ran down in the morning now required us to walk up to Mae Sa Mai, which we used to climb up in the afternoon. Now we have to go down, right? Can anyone confirm this? All I know is that I went to CP and met P'Toon Thida Doi. I wanted to take a photo with him, and I wanted to eat. I was so confused. I could only say to P'Toon, "Let me take a photo with you later." I still haven't taken one. I've wanted to take a photo with them many times, but I'm embarrassed. And then there's P'Sun, Khao Tin Kai, P'Lak, and the other guys who ran in the race. Oh my! From Mae Sa Mai to Thung Pong, it's incredibly long, no different from the set. I'm complaining to myself and my friends around me about where the end is. It was around midnight, and the road was quite runnable. I was holding onto P'Ple, who helped pull me along. Luckily, I was able to run down and make good time. The weather wasn't cold, and I don't have much of a problem with sleepiness. I kept going. I made new friends, too: P'Tang, P'Nick, and P'Beer, who had already teleported. We should've met at A6, but then we disappeared. 😂 Mon Long, my love, and I'm starting to get diarrhea. 😂 A8 > Until the finish line. Every CP is long. We left Thung Pong for a while, got a little lost, and then walked out and started over. Luckily, a group of guys told me to take this route. The route goes up, up, and up, alternating between flat and smooth sections. Then, we exited the forest path and entered a concrete path. I asked them, "Are we almost there? Is that ahead?" Because we'd been walking for so long. Since 3:30 AM, now it's past 6:00 AM. In conclusion, it's not. It's a sharp right turn and continues on concrete road. Keep walking, collecting the hills, and you'll find a road. Turn left and keep going down to a flat road. Ask again, "Is that arch over there? Is it?" No, again. It should be the support team of Father Phu Nok. There's coffee too (if I remember wrongly, I apologize). Okay, when I find a flat road, I run a bit to change my muscles. Jog a bit. Run for a while, stop. Find a concrete path. Stand for a bit. "Where does the road end?" It's a question, but it doesn't need an answer. And keep walking. Don't say that runners are discouraged. Even motorcyclists have a hard time going up. I'm not saying it casually because I see it right in front of me. Pity him. There are people who are more tired than me. Come on, Pree 😂 At that time, walking was tiring. I had to poop. It was the most torturous. I had to endure the most. I couldn't do it. After walking for a while, we found a food stall that belonged to the event. But we couldn't go in yet. We had to walk up a bit more hill to take a picture with the sign of our hero, Mon Long, and then come down to eat. But before eating, going to the bathroom is the answer. Thanks to the assistant director (Director Ton) for letting me go in first. No more embarrassment, I can hear what you're saying. Hurry in, hurry out, eat, and get to the finish line! 😗 (At that time, I asked P'Ple to go in first. I couldn't stand the pain of diarrhea. Even running lightly was jarring.) Mon Long > Finish Line: Whoever can handle it, go ahead! 555555 Honestly, I get discouraged when I have diarrhea, but I remember the phrase written on the back: "Whenever you feel discouraged, think about your coach's face." Shit! Poop can't be an obstacle, even if I'm running and going to the bathroom. 😂 Food: When I go to CP, I focus on eating bananas first, followed by two cups of rice, just the right amount. A little grass jelly, something sweet and cold. During the race, I have dried bananas, cereal bars, and wafers. That's it.
