One month free travel in Italy - Day 11: The city that disappeared due to a volcanic eruption - Pompeii

The ancient city of Pompeii is located in the south of Naples. It is an ancient city that was only discovered by the world in the last few hundred years. Because of a major eruption of the nearby volcano (Mount Vesuvius), the entire ancient city was covered in volcanic ash, which is why it has retained such a complete appearance. The ancient city of Pompeii is probably one of the most impressive attractions on our trip! The ancient city of Pompeii covers a large area, but some areas have not yet been excavated (during the visit, we happened to meet staff who were carrying out archaeological work. They all used manual labor to dig up the soil to avoid damaging the original objects). Every time I set foot in a different area, I feel incredible and a little sad. On the one hand, it is because I can be in the authentic ancient city of Pompeii and observe the living patterns and architectural styles of the ancients through the ruins, but at the same time I also know that tens of thousands of people died here due to the volcanic eruption, which is what makes this ancient city famous all over the world. The buildings in the ancient city of Pompeii directly reflect the living patterns of people at that time. In addition to the houses, the various facilities in the community also show the living conditions and circles of different social classes at that time. We won’t introduce them one by one, you can explore them slowly when you go to the ancient city of Pompeii! The museum was the last stop of the entire trip, where smaller objects excavated from the ruins and petrified humans and animals were displayed (they were frozen in the moment of crawling, running away or praying, and we actually felt quite uncomfortable when looking at these exhibits). Pompeii was our last stop in Naples before we took a cruise to Palermo to continue our itinerary in southern Italy. -to be continued- 📍Pompeii, Italy #freehotelstay
