Worshiping Buddha at Wiang Lo: the border town of Phukamyao

#VisitSecondaryCities 🏡Wat Si Ping Mueang is located in the ancient city of Wiang Lo. Wiang Lo was founded in the 7th Buddhist century and was a frontier city of the Phukamyao Kingdom. The Ing River flows through the southern wall. Important and interesting things in the temple include: ⛺ Small Wihan in Lanna architectural style, decorated with patterns on the pediment. Inside is a stucco Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture. 🏠 Ubosot Phra Sam Phi Nong in Lanna architecture, newly built on the base of the original Ubosot, facing south. This is likely related to the Lanna belief in auspicious directions, which is to prevent evil and inauspicious things from entering the city. Inside Wiang Lo is enshrined Buddha images of 3 different sizes. 🛕 Phra That Si Ping Mueang is a bell-shaped pagoda in Lanna art, Chiang Saen, approximately 900 years old. 🙏 Sandstone Buddha images are enshrined on the side of the pagoda and in front of the temple.
